Well I finally dropped this thing off. The future Mrs. wont let me spend a lot right now since we have a wedding coming up so I'm doing the Comp Coupe exhaust, the DC tune, 180 degree thermostats and 3:55 gears. My question is about the tune. This car feels weak and slow for some reason. The throttle response is very slow and the car just doesn't seem to be as fast as I expected.. I dont know if it's because I'm used to the corvettes fly by wire or I just got a weak car from the factory because of the tune (happens sometimes). What are some of the gains and expactations I should have with the tune? Thanks guys.

Mike, chances are once those mods are done you'll find her much more responsive. When that's not enough you always have the option of getting blown by Paxton.

:D Thats the plan. Afetr were married she already knows the long tubes, paxton and other things are going on the car. I just hope there's a noticeable difference when I get the car back. Can wait to hear the exhaust and feel the gears! :2tu:

Don't worry, 3.55 will wake up the car significantly. Add few ponies from your mods and you'll have enough to play with for the near future. Enjoy!

You might want to consider the aluminum flywheel. I had Dan change this component along with other mods and was amazed at the difference in how the engine now revs up much quicker.

Z06-the dc tune really helped my Viper. Smoother running, quicker, excellent mid range. Takes away a little popping but not all(i like some popping). Wonder if you are getting your computer flashed or a new one.

One thing I found the more miles I put on my new Viper the more responsive it gets.

Ill be taking my Viper in next week for the 3.55 gears, corsa track exhaust and lowering. Cant wait fot this to be done.

Another thing with the my new Pirelli tires (18&19) the Viper seems to be quicker. Unslung weight-whatever the reason. BTW-what is latest on your tires.

Z06-Thank goodness for my special Viper debit card. Hope the Mrs. isnt reading this. Ive got into more trouble since ive had the Viper. Really I try not to lie(fingers crossed), but you know like-when the Mrs ask "honey what is this invoice from DC"-- my response "its probably from Washington DC honey guess it is for a political donation". That answer did not go over well. Believe me I had to explain that one a little further much further. Had to go go without some home cooked meals amoung some other things over that one.

Isnt being a Viper owner just challenging and wonderful.

All you guys needing permission from wives are pretty pathetic, LOL

Drive a Viper to compensate being bossed around at home.

You earned it, you burn it however and whenever you want.

That's funny. I made the mistake of not leaving enough money in the account before I took the majority out to mix funds. I'm trying to think of an exuse to pull some out of the NEW primary account. :D

Just talked to Dan. The peak numbers were 429 rwhp and 445 rwtq which I thought were low. He said the car is pulling a bunch of timing out at 5k rpms and it's loosing about 30 hp. I told him I only put chevron or shell etc. He's going to try and tune it out. Has anyone else had this problem?

Well mine is slower then my buddies. Though he does have cats removed and I have 2 hi-flows. But mine also seems to pop alot and it seems to run richer then his. So Im sure there are variances in tunes, cars, etc. Ill be visiting Dan soon also.

I am loosing all the cats but running the stock exhaust manifold for now. I just dont understand how the new Z can put out the same numbers. I think it's because the heads flow so well. I know for sure with my sticky pirellis and the gears it will definatley keep me up with the z. :usa: :2tu:

All thse changes are going to really make a big diff. Glad your getting it done. Dan will take good care of you. I would go with the new computer you may want to change over when you go in for certain warranty work.

Z06-I tease some- but marriages are different-now our marriage we had a understanding that when one spends X amount of dollars on something personal the other gets to spend the same amount. So my Viper wound up costing 152000$. But my wife is worth every penny and double that amount. In fact she is priceless. I hope she reads this post.

Z06- you know all we need to hear from now is the most holy Rev Roofum-he could enlighten us on dc computers or anything else. ;)

Cant wait to read your post on the difference these mods make.

BTW I would like to know about the Pirelli's

Hey Mike,

Dan's doing some tuning and other work for me today and tomorrow. Car should be ready Friday night if all goes well.

When do you pick yours up?

Crystal Cove Saturday?

Vintage Racing on Sunday at Coronado with some other Viper guys?

Your dyno hp numbers are pretty normal for a stocker, the tq is a bit low. I'm guessing it will run a bunch better when you get it back and put some miles on it. Dan's numbers are usually conservative (read honest).

As a point of reference Dan dyno'd my car at 9,500 miles, no mods at the time, and showed 432 hp & 461 # uncorrected, and 424 hp & 453 # corrected.

She's the same. She just wants to get the wedding and new house out of the way. Afterward, she has no problem with me spending the dough. If she wasn't this way, I wouldn't be marrying her. She's a great girl. As far as the pirellis, I honestly didnt drive the car enough before taking the stockers off. I can tell you that I cant spin them in first, which I thought was an extremley weak car or sticky rubber. :2tu:

Hey Dan,

I dropped the car off on Tuesday at noon. He says he hopes to have it done before the weekend. I don't know why it would take so long for a tune and exhaust but I don't want to rush them. I know they take their time and I definatley like that. I talked to him again today and he said out of two pulls, one was 417 rwhp and the other 429 rwhp. I wish these motors came with some bad *** heads like the Z does, these things would be putting down 470 rwhp stock. I would love to hook up with you for some Viper stuff this weekend. I'm headed to Aliso creek beach tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. to get a firepit. I am cooking for the family. If you and the wife have no plans, You're more than welcome to come for some free food and booze. Let me know.

Mike

That makes me feel better. My last Z was very strong from the factory. I thought I got a week one here. I cant wait to feel the difference. Ecspecially with the tune. :usa:

Its worked pretty good I am retired and it wont be long till our 50th. I doubt that she will hold me to the 76000 because she really enjoys the Viper. Were like teen's when were in the car. But I will say it is a little hard to go sparkin' in the Viper. he he-but I enjoy trying.

An old friend trained me well.........ALWAYS maintain secret money!!

Yeah, it is called OFFSHORE accounts. Those loopholes are there for the taking my friends. In case of divorce, us men are always in the losing side, we are always the bad and the ugly.

Zorro-you have a unique way of putting things-offshore accounts-got chuckle out of that one.

Z06-on the 180 thermostat-Dan sent me the 170. Be honest I cant tell any difference in cooling temp-its the same as my stock 185. What is the advantage of cooler stat. Fan??

Car runs better cool, less pre-ignition and the computer can run a more advanced timing.

Especially important when running forced induction, you will prevent detonation.

I did notice that the heater does not work as well in the winter, not that I really care in Miami...
