If you can afford it, buy a rear differential already set up with the gears so you can swap them back and forth.

Drive Train Specialists will sell the entire diff for $1575.00 with 354's installed. (talk to Eric) I would think it's the way to go. Then you can swap your old gears back in anytime you desired with little or no cost.

Beware if you go buy a used Viper Differential thinking to send it out for gears. Gen 1 differential requires some "machining" to fit in a Gen 2 car and I don't recommend you go that route.
Also, while the gear set in your 2001 is different from earlier Vipers. Your 2001 has larger bolts in there.
Devin at Unitrax sets these up well. You can just ship it over to them and buy the Speedo Calibration unit from them, too.

When I sent my car to Hennessey for the 650R upgrade, I had a year and a half of factory warranty left on the car. My local dealer still honored "any part or system" on the car that was original or unmodified by HMS. Examples were a broken door hinge, power steering pump, and a fog light element. The dealer told me that Hennessey would have to stand behind his work (which, incidentally, HMS did for the most part!) You might want to find a dealer that is a bit more flexible with these issues than the one you are doing business with now.
