I want to change my own tranny fluid, simple right? Well here is my question. The fill hole is flush and on the side of the Transmission, and with the transmission installed there is no room to fit a funnel and pour the fluid. So whats the trick to adding fluid to the tranny?

Thinking long flex hose maybe with a fitting on it to match the plug thread fish it around from above and add a funnel on top.

Anyone change their own fluid and how did you do it?

Thanks.

I just did mine this weekend. Buy 4 litres of Mobil 1 synthetic ATF, go to Princess auto or any car supply center and buy a transfer pump. They look like a grease gun with a small hose attached at the end of them. You have to take the top off of it, fill it up with the atf, put the top on and then push the fluid through into the tranny hole. I had to fill mine up 7 times I think. Took about 1/2 liter each time. The entire process took 5 minutes.

Here is a link to what they look like. I just got the one with one hose at the end. They work great for sucking out the diff fluid as well which you might as well do while you're under the car. I think I paid $12.00 for mine. Cheap.

Jeff: There are 2 ways you can accomplish this. 1. Go to NAPA and purchase a suction gun for about $20.00. It looks like a grease gun but has a long hose on one end and a rod on the other that lets you **** fluid into the cartridge then push it into the transmission hole. 2. Purchase your tranny fluid in plastic squeezable bottles. Put hose on the spout end and squeeze the fluid into the hole.

A lot easier is to buy a univeral windshield washer pump ( about $10 at your local part store) and use it to transfer liquid.
The pump will have 2 ports/*******, 1 in and 1 out and 2 12V wires, 1 ground and 1 +.

Just connect a piece of tubing on each port, put the in in the bottle and the out on the tranny hole.

I'have been using this system for years to drain of fill all type of liquids.
