You think its bad now- wait until the democrats let the Bush tax cuts expire(ie RAISE TAXES). Millions of small to medium size bussinesses that gross over 250k a year will cut at least 25% of their workforce to just attempt to stay in bussiness. Add to that the huge increases in mandatory Obama care, and it may be the end of employment and healthcare in the country. Unemployment of 30-40% will become common place nationwide.

It will not be a a Great depression, it will be the DEMOCRAT depression; and the stupid people of this country who voted for these people will deserve every second of it.

It was shocking in 2008 to talk to Obama supporters who were truely UNEDUCATED. They were not familiar with ANY of his policies, just stupid rubber stamp cool aid drinkers. When I'd let them know about just a little of what he stands for, they would sit there with a deer in the headlights look on their faces and say, "really."

Do all of us that "can't think for themselves" a favor and "inject" if you will, some facts as to what this administration has done to foster a more favorable climate to conduct business in this country?

Jim :usa:
Three days ago the President signed a bill providing a total of $42B in assistance to smaller businesses ($30B in direct help + $12B in tax relief). Did they not report that on Fox? Here is a link for you:

Obama Signs Bill Offering $30 Billion in Aid to Small Businesses

If a business owner who pockets over $250k/year would lay off 25% percent of his employees because his personal tax rate goes from 35% to 39% then there is something seriously wrong with either that business or that business owner. You really think $10k = fire 25% of workers for a guy who is making bank?

Here is the FOX Story... Nice of Obama to throw another $30B facade after the Trillion Dollar Stimulous that disappeared... All while he attacks the free market system of our country... Keep in mind this is all taxpayer money that accumulates debt. Obama has accumulated more debt than our first 40 Presidents combined. His entire electoral party is separating itself from his policies and agenda but his constituents seem to be slow in catching on.

This is so you have an understanding of the tax increases...

2011 Taxes

In just six months, the largest tax hikes in the history of America will
take effect. They will hit families and small businesses in three great
waves on January 1, 2011:

First Wave: Expiration of 2001 and 2003 Tax Relief

In 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors,
small business owners, and families.

These will all expire on January 1, 2011:

Personal income tax rates will rise. The top income tax rate will rise from
35 to 39.6 percent (this is also the rate at which two-thirds of small
business profits are taxed). The lowest rate will rise from 10 to 15
percent. All the rates in between will also rise. Itemized deductions and
personal exemptions will again phase out, which has the same mathematical
effect as higher marginal tax rates. The full list of marginal rate hikes
is below:

- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%
- The 25% bracket rises to 28%
- The 28% bracket rises to 31%
- The 33% bracket rises to 36%
- The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%

Higher taxes on marriage and family. The "marriage penalty" (narrower tax
brackets for married couples) will return from the first dollar of
income. The child tax credit will be cut in half from $1000 to $500 per
child. The standard deduction will no longer be doubled for married couples
relative to the single level. The dependent care and adoption tax credits
will be cut.

The return of the Death Tax. This year, there is no death tax. For those
dying on or after January 1 2011, there is a 55 percent top death tax rate
on estates over $1 million. A person leaving behind two homes and a
retirement account could easily pass along a death tax bill to their loved
ones.

Higher tax rates on savers and investors. The capital gains tax will rise
from 15 percent this year to 20 percent in 2011. The dividends tax will
rise from 15 percent this year to 39.6 percent in 2011. These rates will
rise another 3.8 percent in 2013.

Second Wave: Obamacare

There are over twenty new or higher taxes in Obamacare. Several will first
go into effect on January 1, 2011. They include:

The "Medicine Cabinet Tax" Thanks to Obamacare, Americans will no longer be
able to use health savings account (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA),
or health reimbursement (HRA) pre-tax dollars to purchase non-prescription,
over-the-counter medicines (except insulin).

The "Special Needs Kids Tax" This provision of Obamacare imposes a cap on
flexible spending accounts (FSAs) of $2500 (Currently, there is no federal
government limit). There is one group of FSA owners for whom this new cap
will be particularly cruel and onerous: parents of special needs children.
There are thousands of families with special needs children in the United
States, and many of them use FSAs to pay for special needs education.
Tuition rates at one leading school that teaches special needs children in
Washington , D.C. ( National Child Research Center ) can easily exceed $14,000
per year. Under tax rules, FSA dollars can be used to pay for this type of
special needs education.

The HSA Withdrawal Tax Hike. This provision of Obamacare increases the
additional tax on non-medical early withdrawals from an HSA from 10 to 20
percent, disadvantaging them relative to IRAs and other tax-advantaged
accounts, which remain at 10 percent.

Third Wave: The Alternative Minimum Tax and Employer Tax Hikes

When Americans prepare to file their tax returns in January of 2011, they'll
be in for a nasty surprise-the AMT won't be held harmless, and many
tax relief provisions will have expired. The major items include:

The AMT will ensnare over 28 million families, up from 4 million last year.
According to the left-leaning Tax Policy Center , Congress' failure to index
the AMT will lead to an explosion of AMT taxpaying families-rising from 4
million last year to 28.5 million. These families will have to calculate
their tax burdens twice, and pay taxes at the higher level. The AMT was
created in 1969 to ensnare a handful of taxpayers.

Small business expensing will be slashed and 50% expensing will disappear.
Small businesses can normally expense (rather than slowly-deduct, or
"depreciate") equipment purchases up to $250,000. This will be cut all the
way down to $25,000. Larger businesses can expense half of their purchases
of equipment. In January of 2011, all of it will have to be "depreciated."

Taxes will be raised on all types of businesses. There are literally scores
of tax hikes on business that will take place. The biggest is the loss of
the "research and experimentation tax credit," but there are many, many
others. Combining high marginal tax rates with the loss of this tax relief
will cost jobs.

Tax Benefits for Education and Teaching Reduced. The deduction for tuition
and fees will not be available. Tax credits for education will be limited.
Teachers will no longer be able to deduct classroom expenses. Covered
Education Savings Accounts will be cut. Employer-provided educational
assistance is curtailed. The student loan interest deduction will be
disallowed for hundreds of thousands of families.

Charitable Contributions from IRAs no longer allowed. Under current law, a
retired person with an IRA can contribute up to $100,000 per year directly
to a charity from their IRA. This contribution also counts toward an annual
"required minimum distribution." This ability will no longer be there.

Now your insurance is INCOME on your W2's......

One of the surprises we'll find come next year, is what follows - - a little
"surprise" that 99% of us had no idea was included in the "new and
improved" healthcare legislation . . . the dupes, er, dopes, who backed this
administration will be astonished!

Starting in 2011, (next year folks), your W-2 tax form sent by your employer
will be increased to show the value of whatever health insurance you are
given by the company. It does not matter if that's a private concern or
governmental body of some sort. If you're retired? So what; your gross
will go up by the amount of insurance you get.

You will be required to pay taxes on a large sum of money that you have
never seen. Take your tax form you just finished and see what $15,000 or
$20,000 additional gross does to your tax debt. That's what you'll pay next
year. For many, it also puts you into a new higher bracket so it's even
worse.

This is how the government is going to buy insurance for the15% that don't
have insurance and it's only part of the tax increases.

Not believing this??? Here is a research of the summaries.....

On page 25 of 29: TITLE IX REVENUE PROVISIONS- SUBTITLE A: REVENUE OFFSET
PROVISIONS-(sec. 9001, as modified by sec. 10901) Sec.9002 "requires
employers to include in the W-2 form of each employee the aggregate cost of
applicable employer sponsored group health coverage that is excludable from
the employees gross income."

great write up v10emous.
V10enomous's post was VERY good. It is so nice to here something other than "he was born in Kenya" or "he's not fit to be president because he uses a teleprompter when he gives speeches" or he must be a bad person because he went to college and became educated, or "he's a Socialist." But listing all those taxes is not support for calling President Obama a Marxist or Socialist, or even saying he is anti-business. Come on, if business was booming right now his party would have no worries in these upcoming mid-terms and if busness kept booming his re-election would be a mere formality for 2012. Why would he be anti-business and shoot himself and his party in the foot? Every president in the 20th & 21st Centuries has overseen the levying of federal taxes. Doesn't mean they are Marxists. Heck even Fidel Castro isn't a Marxist anymore. The only Marxists you'll find nowadays is maybe Hugo Chaves and Kim Jong Il.

And even given all the taxes listed in V10enomous'd post (which again was stellar), again I ask if I was a business owner who earned over $250k/year (and remember that is after all the business expense deductions I get), why would they cause me to fire 25% of my employees?

Great Question but first let me blow some smoke too by saying that there is merit to the compassionate side of the Democratic ideology but it's very clear that Obama's agenda goes way beyond compassion for those in need. I really believe that most Democrats that voted for him got more than they bargained for. If he were a Republican with this agenda I would be even more enraged because I would also feel deceived.

The man sat and lectured in Jeremiah Wright's church of Black Liberation Theology for 20 years and then conveniently distanced himself when he became a serious Presidential Candidate. Why ? He has only been to church 4 times during his Presidency and only for appearance sake and not in Wright's church. FOX and Glenn Beck and their comprehensive team of investigative reporters have exposed him for what he is and he can't deny the facts. To dismiss this is sheer ignorance...

I know I sound like some FOX News Glenn Beck fanboy here but honestly it's hard to deny the facts they present and most people are finally starting to listen to what was said before the election...

Case in point...

"Comprehensive team of investigative reporters" = LOL. What the heck does it matter if or where the President went or currently goes to chruch? That is like saying that anyone who has been to Catholic mass in the last 20 years is a surrogate child molester. Absolutely ridiculous and the exact kind of baloney that disgusts me personally about the right. STOP HATING and start thinking. Talk about things that matter to how our country runs mechanically - like V10nomous's tax post.

You really think $10k = fire 25% of workers for a guy who is making bank?

After this I'm done with you (you see I have a business to try to run and no time to lamp around the net argueing with liberal morons who now feel so cheated by their vote for that socialist @sshole that they feel compelled to constantly defend him in the face of the defenseless!), not to mention you come across as somewhat of a condescending pr!ck which I don't have the temperment for anyhow! ;)

Clearly you don't now or have ever owned a small business (or even know someone close enough that does to hear how this affects them) or you would know better than to write something like the bold statement above with such wreckless conviction!

So - with all that said, what if the small business owner has only 4 employees (the average small business) and they make along with thier insurance a hell of alot more than $10K, what does he do then? Especially when you throw in that he might be looking down the barrel of even more taxes in the form of that POS Health Care debacle or Cap and Trade etc... (or you pick one of Obama's Socialist, tax-hiking tenets if you'd like?)

It all adds up to not hiring, if not firing (which ***** when you have to do it)!

We sure are bud! and Obama and his band of socialist fools are doing NOTHING (that really matters) to help, while all the time proposing new ways to throw more logs on the fire of hurt!

So back to what v10 eluded to earlier in this thread - somethings got to give in a hurry and it needs to start in the form of a massive political sea-change this November!

or we're f@cked! (to put it plainly!)

and just so ******** knows, this is all from the heart and soul and reality of my life, not from television talking heads. I don't have much time for that either!

Long before... you got that right..

Bill Clinton and Barney Franks with their No Money Down, No Income Check, Interest Only Unsecured Mortgages because "everybody has a right to own a home and the values will never go down." Followed by Obama and his Cronies voting against the Bush lending reform bills and all those Homeowners walking away. That's a good start and then of course the root of the problem is Democrats protecting the self serving Unions that make the American auto industry non-competitive not to mention what the unions have done to public education in the US. Then the Dems demonize Wall street and the banking industry for reaping the benefits of the unsustainable bubble that the irresponsible lending created.

It's far from over too... Wait until the Obamacare and Tax increase take their toll on small businesses.

Your 100% correct! :2tu:

Real change and not just rhetoric .Dodge really treated your business unfairly. Your story and how small business all over the country is struggling to survive is is a window on what ails this country.God bless you and good luck sir.

This started as a nice supportive post of Chuck. Now, along with everything else he has going on, he has to endure a couple of Obama Kool Aid drinkers. It is hard to understand how ANYONE can continue to defend Obama, and even harder to believe anyone can blame the current situation on anyone other than Obama and the current Congress.

Good luck, Chuck and try to ignor the idiocy. I know it annoys you.

Start watching the first video at 10:45 and then continue on to the second video. Beck has these guys dead to rights. People can choose to deny and ignore this but a fifth grader can understand this...

Watch the contuation of the cuts vs inreases discussion but pay special attention to this video starting at the 8:30 mark to see where the real problem lies.

Uh, Clinton and company weren't making the loans. Greed existed in the real estate and mortgage companies. And $130 billion in bad loans wasn't done by the government either. When there are no regs and no penalties for bad business ehtics, you can bleme a lot of folks but greed starts with business not government.

If you base all your opinions on the idiot Glen Beck, then you are in more trouble than you know. He sees a conspiracy around every corner. Where was he when Bush and company were spending like drunken sailors? This started out to support Tator, let's go back to that. One of my favorite Dodge dealer closed too. He just couldn't sell enough cars in a rural area. But Ford took his franchise away too and they weren't bailed out.

One thing there is never any shortage of is name calling liberals that make excuses about why the debate should end after they have spoken. Chuck introduced politics into the thread so he may actually fnd your implications insulting.

Beck doesn't make stuff up he uses credible and readily available sources of information like in this case the President's own words. I for one would never rely on a single source of information and do my own research as well. The Libs are trying to transform the country to their liking despite the repeated failures of similar models throughout history. The bad news for them is that the information is at everbody's fingertips now so they just can't hide from the facts. The anger and bullying is all that the liberals are left with once the facts are presented to them.

Obama’s Fannie and Freddie Amnesia
Posted by Tad DeHaven

Peter Wallison calls attention to President Obama’s amnesia regarding events that precipitated Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s collapse. Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Wallison points out that in 2005 then-Senator Obama joined with his Democratic colleagues in stopping legislation that would have helped rein in the government-sponsored housing duo’s risky behavior:

The bill would have established a new regulator for Fannie and Freddie and given it authority to ensure that they maintained adequate capital, properly managed their interest rate risk, had adequate liquidity and reserves, and controlled their asset and investment portfolio growth.

These authorities were necessary to control the GSEs’ risk-taking, but opposition by Fannie and Freddie—then the most politically powerful firms in the country—had consistently prevented reform.

The date of the Senate Banking Committee’s action is important. It was in 2005 that the GSEs—which had been acquiring increasing numbers of subprime and Alt-A loans for many years in order to meet their HUD-imposed affordable housing requirements—accelerated the purchases that led to their 2008 insolvency. If legislation along the lines of the Senate committee’s bill had been enacted in that year, many if not all the losses that Fannie and Freddie have suffered, and will suffer in the future, might have been avoided.

The president’s complicity in the housing collapse hasn’t stopped him from pinning the blame on Republicans, “special interests,” and Wall Street “fat cats.” As he does with other problems, the president blames everyone except himself and his party.

As I recounted in a Cato Policy Analysis, Fannie and Freddie epitomized the ****** relationship between businesses that receive special federal breaks and policymakers. Democrats, including Obama’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, played a key role in facilitating Fannie and Freddie’s destructive activities. Emanuel, a then recent senior adviser to President Clinton, was appointed by Clinton to Freddie Mac’s board of directors, where he earned $320,000 in compensation and sold company stock worth more than $100,000.

Then there’s the current Office of Management and Budget director, Peter Orszag. In 2002, Fannie Mae commissioned a paper authored by Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz, Jonathan Orszag, and Peter Orszag, who was then at the Brookings Institution. The study concluded that “the probability of default by the GSEs is extremely small.” Oops.

Given the company Obama keeps, it’s not surprising that the administration still hasn’t come up for a plan on what to do with Fannie and Freddie.

The administration has intentionally not incorporated Fannie and Freddie into the federal budget in order to hide the cost to taxpayers. And on Christmas Eve the administration quietly announced that the government would cover all of Fannie and Freddie’s losses beyond the original $400 billion limit through 2012. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the final cost to taxpayers for bailing out Fannie and Freddie will approach that figure, although Wallison calls that projection “optimistic.”

See this essay for more on the problems the federal government causes in the housing market.

Make up all you want. Simple fact is you can't spend more money than you take in. Tax increases are the only way to balance the budget unless we cut spending by huge amounts. Reagans but advisor Stockman just came out and said the Republicans are just as guilty as the Democrats for pushing deficit spending and the new "plan" is no different from the old plans they have been pushing for years.

It has been a long time since I taught introductory economics but I can tell you that you couldn't pass the class with your arguments - and neither can Glen Beck. Don't try to blame Fannie and Freddie for the AIG and financial industry mess. Yes the made bad loans but the losses they have pale in relation to the bailout of the financial industry as a whole.

Let's get back to arguments about the use of fiscal and monetary policy to guide the country. You believe in trickle down cuts for the rich? Ain't worked yet - they are still in place. You think $500 billion for the richest 2% will help the siutation. You must be one of the 2% then. Government spending has helped stabilize the economy - even right wing economists say that.

I would agree that government spends too much - but blaming Obama for that is like blaming pigs for swine flu. I can counter each of your arguments with facts or I can take the other side. But blaming someone who has been in office for 2 years and inherited a mess is just stupid. Back up and blame the previous administrations on both sides if you want the truth about the mess we're in.

Obamacare was bad timing (policy itself still needs work). The deficit we have is very unfunny; it has to be addressed NOW. We're not going to do that with tax cuts and the government has to do some serious spending cuts. This includes both social and corporate welfare programs. It doesn't help either that most of the taxes are paid by a few. Someone making $50k with a family of four doesn't pay any taxes? They can pay a few bucks. It's too easy to load up on the well-off. We need to elect politicians serious about good administration (and the corporate world needs to find leaders serious about doing the right thing not just for their own welfare). This economy and deficit is a mess that we have to clean up that will require some sacrifice from everyone on all rungs of the economic ladder. "Don't forget to take out the garbage Nov 2" : True, but let's not bring in more garbage. The Tea Party is full of it. We need to encourage qualified leaders with a balanced vision that have the guts to do the right thing, not necessarily the popular thing or cater to our worse instincts.

I wish you the best Chuck; I wish you weren't so far away from me! I could use your services out here.
