Clear bra correction or SOL?

OK guys, feeling like a dunb $hit I went to wipe a bird **** off my clear bra this morning and put a bad scratch(s) in my clear bra (see pic), not sure if you guys know of any tricks to correct this, or am I SOL and need to get that piece replaced? I was using Adam's WW and MF towel and either didn't let the WW sit long enough (most likely), had debris in my MF (doubt it, but maybe), or the bird ate some roughage (possible). But, none the less I scratched it, can this be polished, buffed, or glazed TYIA

I would think you could improve it with one of the many clear plastic polishes out there. Motorcycle guys eat this stuff up for their clear plastic windscreens. Some just spray on and wipe off, like Plexus. Others are a true polish like Meguiars Plast-X. In any case, I would test the product on a non-conspicuous area of the clear bra first. If it doesn't work out, having a plastic polish on hand is not a bad thing for other apps... The Plast-X works well on headlight covers, for instance. As far as actually restoring a clear bra to like new once scratched, I would throw in with plumcrazy, depending on the severity of the damage.

This scuff can be improved with a little elbow grease and some fine polish. From looking at the film it looks like VentureShield so it can be improved but not sure it can be completely fixed. I have clients that do this all the time. The best way to prevent them is with a good sealant on the film before you clean it.

By the way, Plexus is not a good protectant for film. It contains Butane in it which burns out the film over time and causes it to yellow. A lot of my clients use Zaino and have found it to do a great job. I give a bottle of this sealant to all of my clients after the install for maintaining film. It is the best product I have found so far and really makes the film slick... and it can be used to polish the scuffs out. One bottle will last you a very long time so no need to buy more than one.

My response only applies to 3M Clear Bra's.

You can actually fix scratches in a clear bra made by 3M. You can even wet sand on them! Mind you that I am only talking about 2500-3000 grit papers but an experienced body man or detailer can fix that scratch without replacing anything. If you lived close to me, I'd tell you to bring it over so that I could knock it out.

Try a ROB and a nice soft polishing pad with some mild SSR like Menzerna 085rd or a similar polish.  Most CB's are not really made to be able to be polished but I have had relatively good success removing light marring from them with this method. I think Adams also sells a Clear Bra Polish which work well but I have not tried to actually remove any scratches with it yet.

That looks like an easy fix. At the Chryslers at Carlisle show I used Adam's Revive Polish to remove a few shoe scuffs from Mopar Boy's door sills. They were black scuffs and came out with a little work.

Thanks for the tips guys, good stuff. I'll try a few and report back. I don't think the scratches are very deep. I was surprised how easy it was to scratch, I'll have to be much more careful going forward. I have never sealed the clear bra and at the time there was no wax on it. I hope by sealing it and keeping it waxed, it'll be harder to scratch in the future?

Junkman, do you have any clear bra maintenance videos out? and, yes I'll be looking you up whenever passing through Memphis, it'd be a pleasure to meet you.

The sealant will greatly decrease the chances of the film scuffing. It will also shine it up very well. Its critical to keep film sealed while its on the car... as it greatly increases the life of the film.

Well Congratulations on the coming arrival!! Sounds like a higher priority, there will be plenty of other Viper events. It seems like the Texas groups always have something going.
