I am posting this for one of my members who has a 2008. He is experiencing cold start issues with his car. It will start with no issues when leaving his garage, however, when he parks it outside in the cold, an hour or two later when he goes to start car, the car struggles to start. The engine turns over, just fails to ignite. After he tries for several minutes, it finally starts. The car also runs fine once its up and running. My initial recommendation to him was to replace the spark plugs as I determined they are original. If memory serves me, the car probably has about 30K miles on it.

Any insight or help I coudl forward to him, would be greatly appreciated.

Does it idle low when it does fire up? Could be an issue with the IAC (idle air control valve). Also, battery would be one of the first things to check in cold weather as well (if it was weak before, it will tend to let go all the way in the cold).

Battery. A couple years ago, my 2003 would start, then die, like an old carburated car. On restart, a little gas, she was fine. New battery solved that. The idle control module is very voltage sensitive.

There is no IAC on Gen 4 cars...it's all done with the throttle blades since they are drive-by-wire.

Downfall about the diehard platinum series is the color....lol..so get some black spray paint ready. I didn't notice mine until after I put it in and saw it from the rear.

I will forward the responses. Battery sounds reasonable.

Thank you so much.
