:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Steel Grey and Black/Silver stripes are both VERY desirable cars.. I had a 2000 Blk/Slvr car back in 2006. Awesome car.. The creampuff argument has been beat to death on this forum. Some of the best cars and colors were produced from 2000-2002.

I have to agree 100%.

As far as the shifting issue, if it is the lockout there will be a light lit up on the dashboard indicating this. If I remember correctly I think it is an arrow. Sound like a synchronizer to me. :(

Plenty of GREAT cars at GREAT prices for sale on this board.

When you were having trouble shifting, did you notice a small orange arrow in the instrument light cluster? If the orange arrow is lit up you can only go from 1st to 4th. If you increase the rev's you can select 2nd and 3rd :)

I always wondered what that yellow/orange arrow was for that showed up in the circular instrument area within the dashboard. I only see it when i start driving the car in first gear.... I've never seen it go on in any other gear. Do other high end performance cars do that too with some sort of symbol or arrow lighting up?

Vettes also have the "Skip shift". It is a huge pia but a little resistor in the connector to the skip shift solenoid and the problem goes away allowing driver controlled shifting without the CEL. Gas mileage mod.

I did notice the orange arrow in the dash come on at low RMPs in 1st gear. I did not make any correlation to the missed 2nd shift, however from the responses it sounds like the lock out was causing me to miss the 2nd gear shift.

By the way, if you're buying a Viper as many people have already stated there are several mods available. In my honest opinion and the most important mods you can do in this order I would highly suggest.

Stereo, Exhaust, Intake, Wheels/Tires :2tu:

The car still has the original Alpine head unit but the owner did upgrade the speakers to MTX components keeping the original grills and more importantly the original appearance.

I like the idea of the smooth intake tubes as a minor upgrade but I will have to consider the exhaust upgrade.

The wheels are the oem 18" chromes with new Michelin Pilot Sports, not the PS2's but I'm happy with new tires.

Just noticed this thread; I have a weakness for the steel gray (mine has cognac, no stripes, 1 of 52 or something). It's an easy color to live with, neither flashy nor dull.

A set of PS2s was the FIRST thing I did. World of difference.

I 'like' stereo, but am no audiophile, so the stock unit is fine by me, but I did spring for aftermarket Hertz Speakers, and insulated the spare tire/trunk area. Made a diff. Knocked down the exhaust boom, helped the stereo.

I put on some hf cats from JonB, and stock elsewhere. Made a great tonal diff, maybe an hp or two in the swap, but MOSTLY keeps the sills from becoming an inferno.

Also did the tubes and KN. Aside from that, fully stock.

These are great cars. Don't let the mileage put you off at all. GET THE PPI, then see what's what. Best wishes.

i only listen to the radio/stereo in stop and go traffic

the sills get HOT, if you live in a hot area, the hiflow will be hard to avoid

Sounds like it might be a good car. Either get it or find another one, but you need to get into a Viper now. As the economy straightens out the price of them is bound to go up.
