OK, its time for me to pull the trigger. I wanted to get your input on going with a Coupe versus the Vert, or vice versa. Why did you by yours versus the other?

I will be adding the Paxton soon...does that matter?

Thanks for your input...

Visibility from the vert is much better but if you plan to track the car with large hp gains get the coupe (it is stiffer). Also most tracks will make you add roll bar to Vert to track it. If your not going to track the car much and just want the Paxton for the occasional acceleration then get the one that you like the best. Either way you can't go wrong! Good luck!

Yes...huge difference in price. The Coupes are drying up fast...plenty of Verts left. Why not get a Black Vert and have the dealer do your Silver stripes? I just picked up an '06 Vert Red with black stripes...looks good with the stripes!!

I will be doing some track time in the car. I am a little shy about using a Vert on a road course. There are some crazy deals on the verts but I think with track time and a possible Paxton, I may be better off in a coupe.

I live in California, so it made it an easier choice to get a Vert. Depends on your climate/area. But I think for mostly street driving, the vert is the way to go. This is my first vert and I couldnt be happier.

For cruising, get the vert. Nothing better.

For the track, get the coupe. With a few mods, few are better.

I bought a vert because coupes weren't out yet. I'd never owned a vert before and wasn't too happy about having one.

Now that I've had a Viper vert, there's no going back. Driving a ******* Viper is the $hits. If they stopped making verts, I'd be looking elsewhere for my next car.

Hello OUTLAW......is see that you are in Solomons Island......I do a lot of fishing and crabbing there in the Summer.

Maybe I could see your yellow SRT one day that I'm there?

I recently joined the VA/MD Viper Club, and look forward to attending some functions.

I love my 05 vert. I put in a roll bar and also waiting on an autoform hard top. The roll bar stiffens up the car somewhat. I like top down driving, so I made the decision to go that way, but beef up the safety factor. The 05 vert pricing is good right now.
Good luck with your decision. Either way these cars will put a smile on your face that you need a chisel to remove :D

Mine is an autoform RB. I thought I might have had a pic in my gallery...but I don't know where my gallery is. Guess the galleries are in progress, with the software changes. In the mean time check out aoutforms web site or better yet call and talk to them. They are great to talk to.

As far as the rollbars are concerned, are there any 'removable' rollbars? My cousin has a Boxster that she tracks and she has a bolt in roll bar (basically just a hoop behind the seats that bolts to the b-pillar) that also acts as a harness bar. Seemed like the easiest answer to tracking a vert, but I haven't noticed one on any other car like that. I know the safety is not there for the *********, but for 1-2 track events a year, it would make it much easier than getting a weld in roll cage. Any ideas?

A convertible is the only way to go if you are driving the car for pleasure.

Also, why you think the couple gives you any REAL protection is a rollover? If you roll at "Viper" speeds you need a NASCAR roll cage to do you any good. Just because most track's rules say you need a coupe to run without a roll bar, doesn't mean it is really significantly safer.

Interesting. OEM Boxster Roll bars are functional and attached at the frame - I THINK. Click on link below for picture:

Well, from what I remember, the stock rollbar wouldn't pass the broomstick test while she was wearing a helmet. Maybe I am wrong on this one. I do know that she attaches her harness to it. Hmm, maybe it is just a removable harness bar???

Anyway, is there anything like a removable rollbar for the viper? Or is it install and be done with it??

If your going for crazy power. Get the coupe for extra protection. If you just want the badest vert on the planet, the SRT/10. The beefy, chop top stance in the ultimate. IMO

Autoform or DC Performance can provide very clean, strong roll bars that look very professional, don't block your view, and provide a significant increase in protection.

They are still a bit lower than it would be recommended, but allow the top to be raised and lowered easily.

Bolted or welded in, great way to go. Weld if you will be keeping the car for a while.

Stock hoops are simply vinyl over aluminum tubing. Very little safety added.

Gonna save a ton if you are buying a convertable now. They have been out a while, and you can get an ambassador coupon that gives you 1% under invoice.
Coupes getting top prices right now. Hard for the factory to keep up.

I put a Paxton in my vert, and it is quite a amazing package. Do not track it aggressively due to no top, but is is simply the most amazing car I have ever had the privledge to own.

Accelleration is like the hand of God urging you onward.
Stereo really kicks with the top down.
World class handling and braking.
Very civilized ride. Take it out several times a week.
Air conditioning and Heater work great. Really extends the comfort zone. When it really gets hot or cold, simply pop the top up. 15 seconds.
SRT's have very little wind buffeting with the top down.
The side pipes really sing out their music when the top is down.

On a partly sunny day like today, with the temps in mid 70's, eagerly cruising the Southern California back roads around Julian.....Priceless.
