regardless Im finding it near impossible to get this damn thing off and to make things worse nobody has a short well 31 mm socket. My long well is to long and my 1"1/4 is slipping
Are you trying to get this from the top or bottom of the car?

Its a 31mm short socket you need but it must be six sided, if not you could round off the flats with a 12 sided socket If you find the 1, 1/4 socket slipping or slightly loose you could cut a small strip of an aluminium coke can to wrap around the bolt flats to take up any slack, But if your trying to use a 12 sided socket your on a looser.

I had to order a socket off the internet for the job.

Both.. If the engine rotates clockwise and the bolt loosens counter; to bump start to loosen the bolt the breaker bar should rest on the power steering side frame from the top and the passenger side from the bottem.. correct?

Best case is that you would be using a 6 point socket for whatever fits. Also, if a previous person put red loctite on it, you might need to apply some heat to weaken it. Of course, then one starts thinking about what that could do to the crank seal if gotten too hot.

I ordered a 6 point 31mm short well online. Not worth rounding anything off. Gonna be a few days..

Do you have a set of dial calipers to measure the bolt head?
31mm = 1.220"
32mm= 1.259"
1-1/4=1.250"
My experience with stubborn bolts is to use sharp force to break them loose. I would actually cut the open end side of the box wrench off completely so that you have a good solid surface to smack. The only other thing that you could do is to heat up the tip of the crank shaft with a very small acetyline torch tip and try to expand the hole size.

The key to what you are doing is take your time.. If that includes buying the correct tools, do it.. I think you know that already though... Take the time you are waiting for the tool to evaluate the situation / strategy!

Sometimes trying to tighten a stuck bolt first will help break it loose. A long breaker bar would be safer in my opinion than the starter method and an air compressor can never match the power of leverage. Good luck.

Correct.. after 3 days of fighting it with 3 different sockets, 2 pipes and 2 breaker bars, Over the top and under the car, I accepted defeat today. I did order a 31mm short well. Gonna give that a shot. If that doesn't work I'll have to tow it..

Why not go to Sears, get a six point socket 31mm on a long breaker bar, brace the bar on the ground if you can or a solid part of the car, tap the starter with trans in neutral.:usa: Have done that in my shop many times, you can not always fit an air gun on some cars.:cool: like others have said make sure crank spins in the right direction to loosen the bolt, I know on some Hondas they use left handed bolt.:omg:

I was just in Sears a few days ago to get a socket for the axle nut on my truck. They don't sell single sockets in sizes over 30mm. One thing that I found out is that Lowe's has a great selection of impact sockets in addition to regular type(don't remember max size). They are made in Taiwan, so they are my second choice to Sears' made in the USA stuff; but, I found that many things they sell that I expected to be USA, like socket extensions/adapters, etc are made in China.

Well I got my 31mm shorty well socket in the mail and its working. Just can't tell if it's the nut turning or the crank as well. So tight... It's in gear.

You can get a tool that basically locks the flywheel in place by engaging the ring gear.

I'm unable to put the new Damper on. Does it need to be hydrolicaly pressed? The snout has minor damage.. threads need to be reworked. Maybe I can take it to a speed shop.. Have them look at it.
