Rumors of discounted 2013 Vipers have been floating around, so as a Gen V owner who ordered at msrp a few years ago (no complaints), I thought I'd snoop around to see for myself what may be going on.
Sure enough, looks like $10k and maybe more at some dealers.

Our local dealer had a $50,000 ADM on their $135,000 GTS in May.

Today they have $14,000 off MRSP.

I hope they are stuck with it.

I have a feeling if it was at MSRP back in May it would have been long gone.

I had a dealer offer me a '13 for $1000 over invoice about a month ago. It's still sitting on his showroom floor.

Hoping for some movement from SRT towards getting these sold. I keep inching closer and closer, and a rebate or good financing would definitely push me over the edge.

Correct ViperSmith. This is a very big reason for poor sales. 100's of dealers scared away customers, increasing the msrp trying to re-coup their $25k investment to be a certified Viper dealer, and there are many complaints to SRT, by customers about service at many of these dealers, whether they bought there or not....and bad news travels fast. The big 3 or so Viper dealers are doing wel....but the other 100's of dealers have made a mess of things for themselves and for SRT, who reaped a windfall in the 25k charges, and wound up snake bitten. Should have raised the ante to a $100k, then only the serious dealers would have stepped forward...but wait a minute, wasn't this forum screaming out loud, about where they were going to get their Vipers serviced? Guess SRT was listening...and look what we all got.

I got off the couch and bought my 2009 ACR due to 0% financing for 48 months offered at the end of 2009. As I recall that picked up sales pretty quickly and I imagine the same would happen this time around. Makes it an easier sell with the wife when buying a hundred and something thousand dollar car and SRT would save face by moving inventory.

You're correct, but as with everything else with the new Viper, they had no follow through. As cool as Ralph appears, I have to blame him as he is the leader. Want examples of the poor follow through?

- Magazine reviews
- Developing a wonderful car only to price it out of the market
- Putting Beth Peretta in charge of marketing. We all saw she had no passion at all.
- SRT not putting effort into the web site
- Not prioritizing build order with actual orders
- No unlockable ECU after constantly addressing Viper owner's like to modify their car in all the media interviews

There are others, but for me, those are the big ones. Hell, the half assed effort still continues. Look at the most recent video added to SRT's youtube channel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6aLytU8jAU&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Really? First they don't even bother to shoot new footage, then they put together go-pro clips instead of a professional shoot? And "rad?" Are you serious. This looks like it was thought up in 5 minutes. That youtube channel is the next best thing when you can't afford TV spots and they are half assing it to. I personally think the car is not the problem, it is SRT. They need to stop half assing their job. You only get out what you put in.

I received a email from my local viper club that sent me 3 dealers in my area that were discounting the car 5,000 under invoice
2013 adrenaline red gts 134K now 121K
2013 gun metal 112K now 101K
2014 race yellow 142K now 128K

so sounds to me they are discounting the 14's that they have also.

If i wasn't trying to build another house I think I would need to pick one up.

Their are 14s all over in South Florida for 10,000.00 off MSRP ,just walking in the door. .None sold... So, if you buy one of these Gen 5s you better really like it, because you will lose you ass if you try to sell it..Like many said, the car is excellent, but everything else could not have been done worse...If I was the boss, their would be many unemployed SRT Executives right about this time..

It their own doing...

We are neighbors! So it's your car that's at Chucks? So I'm in CT, who should I reach out to as a dealer? Feel free to make it a PM, my only hang up is if I should wait for a TA for the car will be tracked 50% of the time. Dan

I think Dodge will be kicking back some rebate numbers to dealers to help sweeten the *** and allow them to give the heavier discounts. They did it in 2009 to move out lingering stock and at one point Tomball was offering 20K off! I got 13K off my ACR at that time and next month it was 18k off..:) They won't go that deep but the question is would a GTS at 145K sell at 130-132K or is it just too much?

Yes, Chuck Tator is doing some work for me. I bought mine from Woodhouse, so I can't help out regarding a CT dealer...suggest a google search or SRT site that lists all dealers. 50% tracking time is serious...I'd wait for the ACR. Good luck, see ya around.

That video above is pathetic. Whoever was the "creative talent" behind the production should be removed immediately. I can (and have) done better with my own cameras and home video editing software.

For a fee, I'd be willing to manage the production of some kick-ass commercials for the Viper, I have some good resources in Houston.

Local dealer had a $20k markup and I talked to the manager about it and warned him. He lied and said dealers couldn't keep them in stock. Sure enough now it's on ebay for $15k off. Not only did they lose a Viper sale they also lost a Jeep sale because I didn't appreciate their practices.

If they want to go the "cheap" route, have owners make their OWN videos, give them some mopar goodies in return, and do it that way.

Don't half ass it. Crowd source it or do it right.

Yep.

Mine gets better than that. Same dealer, I put my name down twice to custom order a Viper last year. No one ever got back in touch with me.

I would have bought at MSRP from them in the blink of an eye.

So, they really failed all around.

That video is dreadful. I would actually be embarrassed to show someone that vid, especially with it ending with "rad". Really, rad? That's so 1986. Stop deliberately botching this, SRT!

Perhaps they were just trying to emphasize the capabilities of the Viper to be driven to the track, raced at the track and then driven back home.

This is one of the Vipers greatest strengths. I enjoyed the ability to drive out to Willow Springs, kick the butt of a bunch of cars trailered in, and then be 1/2 way home before they could get their "race cars" back on the trailer.

They got to drive a truck home, pulling their track car behind them, while the Viper owners were continuing to enjoy the performance capabilities on the way home.

On a second note, It is interesting how some posters complained about the dealers charging too much, and are now complaining that they are charging too little. Can't win.

People are commenting about current Viper pricing and their experiences, haven't seen a complaint yet.

I know the car well, at Koons right?

You are dead right. If it had been at MSRP back in May, I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT! That was when I was thinking of jumping ship from my uber-delayed Stryker Red. So I guess I'm glad that Koons was greedy, LOL

They started on the line last Monday. I was there Wednesday and the first 2 were moving along.

The Orange TA's started on the line yesterday. You might have seen them in the holding bank from chassis.

Yeah. Now they have a 2014 incoming with a sticker of $142

Bet they will sit on that for awhile too.

That's great news! Maybe I will see mine before Christmas.

Nice! Love that Orange TA. I may be looking for a used one in a couple of years to replace my Camaro as my primary track car.

What ever you do, please track that TA!!! There is nothing more fullfilling than the rush you get wheeling a Viper around a road course. It's pure nirvana. Buy track day insurance so you have peace of mind while you carve that baby through the twisties.

I certainly plan on tracking it as much as possible, that's why I ended up waiting for the TA when the second wave was cancelled back in March. Will definitely look into the track insurance when I do. Would like to attend some formal training as you have done for sure.
