Detail Engine Compartment

I need to detail the engine compartment of my '06, I was going to use a few different size paint brushes and some warm soapy water to get into the hard to reach areas to start. Is there any spray product to works well after the majority of dirt is gone that will leave a nice finish? thanks

I find that if you are just doing the final touches a little spray instant detailer on a paint brush will lift out the last of the dust and with frequent cleaning of the brush will leave everything clean. Works great on the plastic parts like connectors also. These were after 13K miles.

I use a little All Purpose Cleaner to clean the engine bay. Make sure the car is cool, including the engine. Cover any exposed electronics, or ones you are concerned about. Here's a link to APC. At the bottom of the page is a video on how to clean the engine bay.
