Does it help to remove the block off in airbox?

I was looking at my GTS and the airbox I have the HMS carbon fiber airbox. I noticed that from the factory there is a black block off plate in the nose where the Gen.1 air supply came from. I was thinking about it and it looks like you could get more air by just removing that piece. Well, I removed the black piece of plastic. Does anyone know if this helps with air flow? It really looks like it would.

that's the rain baffle. you shouldn't remove it if you drive the car in the rain alot. if it's a sunny day car, then go ahead. Do a search ont he site, it's been discussed before.
