Sorry, first my response was to post #21.

Dom426h, current set up was from previous owner--was a standard gen2 rear exit converted to a side exit exhaust. 2.5 in/out RT high flow cats and then a magnaflow muffler (sorry I don't have the part number), no rear muffler anymore. Goals are increased sound volume and a deeper sound. Setups I like that I've heard so far on other cars are belanger (without cats) and B&B, also without cats. Going that route however would require new sills or someone to repair the current sills (along with the cost of the new exhaust), so it starts to add up.

What is your current setup? we are talking about a gen2 rear exit exhaust right? All stock? Still have the rear muffler?
What is your goal? More sound volume? More power?
Dom, it is gen II all stock except I did do the rear muffler delete(has smooth tubes, s&b filters). I'm ok with the sound now, JonB said the RT Hi-Flow cats will make it sound a lil' different, but I'm not trying to really get it any louder, lil' more volume will be fine. As for more power, later on down the road I wouldn't mind adding maybe 20-30 more hp but thats probably it. I definitely won't be doing anything internal, so 20-30 may be unreasonable but I might do the sct tune & a few small things, MAYBE 3.55 gears (really fightin myself on that one) I probably won't ever do the headers. I really want it to be a dependable daily driver or if I want to take a 600 mile road trip & not have to worry about jumpin in & takin off.

mgeorge. Really the only thing left for you to do is Headers. But headers will also force you to change All your components to 3"ers so thats another 600bucks or so on top of the headers. Is it worth it for 20hp and Bigger sound?

With your current setup, i wouldnt remove the hiflowcats, If you are itching to remove them for more sound volume then replace them with a straight-through type muffler similar to the magnaflow you currently have just after them. It would prob be a waste of money to switch the magnaflow with anything else.

Could you please email me pics's of the exit of your sideexhaust. I am planning on doing a sideexhaust in the future on my GTS and am interested in seeing as many custom setups as possible to influence my design. PM'd you my email.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

mattdillon., Just replace the Cats, i dont see any benifit (power or sound) in switching the stock sidesill muffler/resonator to diff one.
If you want to add 20-30 then headers are a must and from what you said you would like sound-wize i think the CORSA would be right for you if you did headers. I'd spend my $$ on Headers over an SCT tune. But, You said no to headers, so 3:55 gears might be the next mod for you.

I found that Lowes carries black plastic plugs that fit the interior rocker panel covers perfectly. Looks like the exact part. Dirt cheap in little bags of 4 or 5 pieces in those little drawers in the hardware aisle.

OK Guys got the Hi-Flow Cats put on earlier today & I LOVE the way it sounds (I've got 1 more sill to put on) It's just a lil' bit meatier sound than what it was, which is perfect because I was really ok with the sound after the muffler delete anyway (didn't want it to sound like a hot rod) so hopefully I can get other side on without any problems. By the way I didn't scratch the car or tear up ANY of the plugs! Think I really just got lucky, but it really wasn't as bad as I was making it out to be. Because I'm definitely no shade tree mechanic. THANKS EVERYBODY!

Great. Glad you like it. Your setup(hiflows w/rearmuffDelete) should be the mandatory minimum exhaust modification done to all Gen2Vipers IMO. Alittle more sound and a lot less heat.

However, its still just the minor league when compared to a 3"system mated to a aftermarket header.:)

You're exactly right Dom, I really thought about that BUT I knew I would have had to put the headers on & I couldn't imagine tryin to find somebody to do all that (plus complete exhaust system) considering nobody even wanted to touch the cats because they were scared they would scratch something (that job looked like it was alot more to it than it actually was) . But I just couldn't justify that much money for a few more hp when all I really wanted was a lil' more purrrr. I looked at some SC & Turbo cars before I got mine but thats not what I really wanted & when I found out they only made the steel gray in the Creampuff year that pretty much sealed my fate. I'm one of those people that believe when somethings not broken don't fix it (except like you said about the basic things you need to do to every Viper) Right now I can get in my car & go anywhere & not worry about something messing up & so why mess with it, its pretty fast! Gears will probably be it, though I've heard of some humming issues sometimes & I would be pissed at myself if I did that & then had that problem, when there was no need for it in the first place. But I know theres no need for any of this stuff, just personal preference.

:crazy2:LMAO....let's see, what do you think "we" should do next????? :D

In order, assuming money not an issue (ha), here's what's on the horizon:

1 - Roller rockers, HS 1.7
2 - If not enough $$$, might go for B&M (or Hurst) shifter
3 - Last, and unsure, change gears to 3.55...I too am a bit concerned over possible whining! Now, let me be clear, this is NOT the whining I do when I want something for the car that I can't get!!!!!

Oh, by the way, when you're finished with your cats (which ones did you get?), can you do a video of the exhaust sound. You have muffler delete, but yours is straight, no resonators...right?

No, I still have resonators on the side, right past the Random Tech Hi-Flow Cats (rear muffler delete). I just now figured out how to get pics to my profile, and I know it shouldn't be to hard to get them on the threads (I'm gettin closer) but when I do I'll definitely post. I know I won't be doing the Roller Rockers (internal) what is the advantage to gettin the shifter (closer shifting) Gears, Gears, Gears, I keep fighting this one! I KNOW if I ever put them in, I would Love Them (ONLY if I didn't have any issues)! I can only wish what it would be like to have a Chuck Tator live near me, then my car would probably have mods out the *****!

I still have the side resonators, but the muffler delete pipe I have is not factory, its the one offered either by Fitzgerald Performance or Snake Oyl. It has small 12" or so resonators just before the chrome tips.

The shifter has a shorter throw and gives a more positive shift when going up or downshifting...less likely to miss a shift. This is a "not sure I need" type of mod so, of course, I'm not sure! :D

The roller rockers will allow the rocker arms to more closely follow the cam and the 1.7 ratio will actually add a little to the lift. This is more about how good the car will sound, actually lumpier, rather than adding meaningful power. So, have to think about rockers versus gears versus leaving the money in the bank....hahaha.

In fact, now that I just re-read all this stuff, not sure I "need" any of it.

I'm just going to get the Mopar wing this year and enjoy the car the way it is. I'll see how finances are for next year and decided what, if anything, I can do at that time.
