Does anyone know if Nitto (or anyone else for that matter) make a drag radial tire for our cars? 335/30/ZR 18 size.

Thanks!

I haven't heard of any, but why not just step up to ET streets?

They're basically drag slicks, but with a few little tiny grooves so that technically they are DOT street legal (i.e., you can drive to and from the track on them). They are made from the same sticky rubber as all-out drag slicks. Bottom line is if you want the best possible traction at the drag strip, go with ET streets.

The bad news is that Mickey Thompson does not make ET streets that will fit on stock Viper rims, so you'll have to buy custom rims. I got mine from John Purner, who knows a lot more about all this than I do. His number is (904) 258-0083. I can attest to his quality and service.

Oh, one other thing, when you go to ET streets, you'll have to put skinnies on the front to keep the car from getting ultra-squirrely, so you're looking at 4 custom rims plus tires.

Good luck!

...And you asked about price. Purner charged me $2500 for four rims and mounted and balanced ET streets on the rear and skinnies on the front.

Rick, you're welcome. I know, I didn't want to spend that much money either, but once you've plunked down 60 grand or whatever for the snake to begin with, there's a twisted mentality in which a couple grand for wheels is no big deal....

I've even heard Purner's set-up described as a "good deal". Maybe it is, since I don't know what the alternatives are.

P.S., let me know if you find that 335/30/18 dr's exist!

Alternatives:

PartsRack has some "nicked / scraped" wheels, both 17" X 10" fronts (that can be used on rear w/ a drag tire) or 17" X 13"

The "cosmetically challenged" uglee ducklings can be had for as little as $300 / pair 17" X 10"......... No Whining.
