Dyno\'d my creampuff - not too much cream

Well I missed Jason Heffner's dyno day because of family matters, but I got out there today. Here's the scoop, is it proof of a creampuff or not a creampuff - you be the judge. I'm very pleased with the numbers and Jason was great, as always.

425.5 RWHP
469.6 RWTQ

My signature has my mod's, I just broke 5K miles.

One thing that surprised me is how flat the torque curve is, it's amazing. Depending on what drive-train loss you like to use, that puts it in the 485-500 flywheel hp range, with mod's investment of $1,700 parts & labor I'm happy with it.

Dave.

Sheyster: The guy who posted right above you .. JonB at the Parts Rack. He spent nearly an hour with me one day on the phone (his dime) and I went with the filter, tubes and catback based on my describing what I was looking for & his input. The sound, IMO, is absolutely awesome & the power is there - although I didn't pre-dyno I would expect a few of those ponies are from the catback - as Jason showed me stock '00 sheets in the 399 hp range.

Great numbers. I can't wait to hear the new sound of the beast when I receive the Belanger Headers/Exhaust/HiFlo cats.

Good run Daffy!

Those are nice numbers. Only $1700 to run what a stock (tubes and filters) "Big Cammed" Gen II puts out.

Good one Kid, but I'm satisfied at 424RWHP with tubes and filters only.

"Pre-order" = Your name's on the dealers waiting list.

Ordering has NOT opened up for 2003, but as Rick said, there are a few honorable dealers that will put your name on their list and when ordering does open up, they'll put them in the system in sequence.

Your VCA officers will have some exciting news about 2003 ordering and allocation sooner than you think!

Daffy,
I must commend you on your fine choice of model year and colors.

Recoil,
You're gonna be REAL happy when you put in the full Belenger exhaust system, in both sound and performance.

Kid,
Get a life!

Sheyster,
I've had a deposit on an 03' for 10 months now, maybe we can work a deal.

Re: Dyno\'d my creampuff - not too much cream

Kid: thanks for the support. Just kidding, I know you're just bustin my chops for a laff.

Like I said, whether the hp is good or bad depends on your perception. My perception is so warped by how crazy I am about my Viper I guess that I'm very happy with the results. Hopefully next month I'll get out with Jason Heffner to a track and try to get some time slips too - with some words fo wisdom from him.

Jason also has me thinking about rocker arms, to compensate for the cam. Headers & rockers are on my consideration list, but I want to see the GenIII in person, just to make sure I don't like it first - and make sure no GTSR is imminent. If I do like the Gen III /GTSR becomes available, then I'll stay with my current mod's & save my pennies for the new toy down the road.

Re: Dyno\'d my creampuff - not too much cream

Nice numbers Dave, i am going to Heffner's this Friday, having my Belanger exhaust and headers installed, i am hoping to dyno at 430RWHP or higher, anything less would really upset me. i will post my results and gain Friday night, cant wait to feel/hear the system on my car.

If you're installing headers & cat-back, be sure to install high-flow cats at the same time. They're good for a substantial power increase (7 HP and 10 ft/lbs for me), and are cheap and easy to install at the same time you're doing the exhaust.

Did you have your stock cats removed for hi flow ones when you gained 7Hp/10tq ? or was that gain over a no cat system?

When you get the hi-flow (bullet) cats make sure you get the 3" in and 3" out kind. There are some 2 1/2" types out there, got mine from JonB at a good price.

how did you like the gear up-grade? did it make the car faster, or just alot more tire spin?

who did you get them from?

thanks

Matt, I got the 3.54 gear and the aluminum flywheel put in at the same time by Dan Cragin. Great SOTP feel, flywheel makes the motor rev much faster in conjunction with the new gear makes GREAT throttle response. Knocked my 60 ft. times down to 1.81/1.82 at the dragstrip when prepped right. When I did the autoX with the Viperclub in Monterey a few months ago I did 5 laps with my 2000 and then 2 in the stock factory 2001, what a difference, it seemed like forever for the 01' to respond to throttle.

SoCal,

What was your ET and MPH when you had a 1.81 and 1.82 60' time? Just curious.. I didn't think you had gotten out of the 12's yet?

Thanks
Mike
