EBC Reds Squeal Like a Pig..Is it normal?

My ebc pads sucked and i tried every combination....turned the rotors.. new pads and new rotors..even after 1000 miles they still sqeaked and made dust..

Hawk pads are a far superior product imho(for street use, can't speak for track)....i get all my pads from .. Zeckhausen Racing , they are knowledgable

i went with the Hawk ceramic pads.. i was worried that i might sacrifice performance but no issues so far..the pads are twice the price of ebc but u get what u pay for

The reds are a street/track pad. EBC's true track pad is the yellow.

Yes, but they are still more aggressive than the Green's, which unless you are tracking your car every weekend, makes no sense to run. The Blue's are actually their dedicated track pad.

Many message forums have an obsession with EBC pads, and I have no clue why. They are bad in the cold, they generate a lot of dust, and they squeal. There are many other brake pads out there that are a lot better for the same price.

If you want a comparable pad to the Red's from EBC, then the Porterfield R4-S pad is what you want to run.

$179.95 for the R4-S per axle. If you want a track pad, then get the R4, which are $209.95. If I have to replace my pads, the R4-S are what I'm going to use.

The Hawk Performance Ceramics can do some weekend events, but they are more geared towards a high performance street pad rather than a street/weekend pad. If you aren't tracking the car you have nothing to worry about, and they should perform better than the OEM pads and create a lot less dust.

If you want a street/weekend pad from Hawk, then look into the Hawk HPS. It's the Hawk version of the Porterfield R4-S which I posted above.

Just had reds installed on my 2000 GTS.... sequal'ing is definitely evident.
Will be the last time I purchase these pads.
