Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a 2005 conv with the original exhaust and in my opinion it's not impressive. I live in Maryland so I'm trying to avoid setting off the sensors or engine light with whatever I change out. I'm looking at free flowing cat to magnaflow.

I have review hundreds of posts and videos and I'm still not sold on what sounds the best! Hence the post.

A few questions:
1. Does anyone have this set up and do you have any videos?
2. What is the best vendor for the free flowing cats? roe?
3. Will this take care of the heat problem in the cabin and on the sill?
4. Can anyone suggest a better set up? I prefer something with a good rumble and noise is not a problem

Thank you for any feedback.

1. Does anyone have this set up and do you have any videos? I run catless with B&B exhaust
2. What is the best vendor for the free flowing cats? roe? I would say yes one of for sure

If your looking for a rumble then the V-10 wont have it stock or even with exhaust. I was ok with my exhaust sound and honestly didn't like it.
I added Greg Good heads/cam package to my car and now it sounds like a beast. Has a good lope and a rumble. This is the sound I was chasing and don't know if its the same you are looking.

The best and loudest cat back IMO is the Belanger unit or Corsa. I have had both and prefer the Belanger for a louder sound. You will not have any less heat unless also doing the high flo cats too. No CEL lights with just the cat backs.

I love the HF cat and corsa setup, and no drone at all. Belanger is just a magnaflow bullet muffler and you will have drone on the 05. I have a used corsa and HF cat that I can sell you , Pm me if you like.

I also live in MD (Eastern Shore), mine is a triple black 04 with full Belanger headers and exhaust system. No codes or engine lights and no footwell, side sill or back of seat heat issues. It is loud and sounds like the car looks "all business". As mentioned above it has some drone but only at certain gear/speeds. The system is not cheap but the fit and finish is perfect, easy to install and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Basically the drone follows the gear you're in, for example 4th gear =40MPH, 5th = 50 MPH, etc. So if you're on the highway in 6th just go 70 and it's all good:D

Great info! Free2go great clip sounds good. Labtec what does your set up run and if you were going to do it again would you go the same route?

The setup from Belanger direct is $3795, this is where I bought mine. You can search on the web and find them at lower price but after talking with Lou directly I had no problem buying from them. I would absolutely go the same route. Don't get me wrong I have heard great things about M&M, etc. but after Lou spending the needed time on the phone with me explaining their system and the ease of install, etc. I am completely satisfied. The headers are coated against heat so no heat shields are needed, the system is very well made and fitted perfectly without any "fine adjustment tools" needed. Also no need to remove spark plugs, jacking engine, etc. You only need to remove a few things under the hood for easier access. Keep in mind the sound is much more aggressive when you also change to headers and high flow cats instead of just a catback system.

Go with Random Tech high flow cats. IMO go metal substrate instead of ceramic. Mate this with Corsa, you will love it!

I have full belanger exhaust on my 04. Sounds great. No heat issues at all. I had another 04 with stock exhaust. The belanger system sounds a lot better and the cabin is a lot cooler. Never dynoed it, so I'm not sure on of there are any improvements from just exhaust.

I've got just a Borla catback on my 04 (came with the car) with stock cats and I really like the sound. Haven't really noticed any heat issues either with the stock cats. Having a low slung sports car on top of 100+ degree pavement is more what causes heat problems around here. I think it's a deeper tone than most other kits I've heard and maybe a little closer to what you might consider a rumble. I think the Corsa sounds a little raspy on rev personally, but everyone's taste is different. All systems give a performance sound, some just sound more powerful and others just sound fast if that makes sense. Kind of like Italian exotic vs American muscle. Both are fast, one is just lower tone and the other more of a high rpm sound.

Hope this link works
Full Belanger Exhaust, stock engine
Headers, High Flow Cats, MagnaFlow Mufflers
All Vipers sound like a "boat" thats idling to me with any setup, except for when you lay into the throttle.
I love the sound of this setup and I love the drone you get at specific rpm's.
Just go with the full setup, meaning headers. So what if it means jacking up the engine. You wont regret it.
Free2Go clip does sound nasty but it also sounds like there is a turbo or supercharger setup installed on that engine which will definitely change the way the exhaust sounds to more aggressive. You can hear whining/spooling down after each rev.
Sounds real nice though

I believe the side exhaust systems tend to sound more UPS truck'ish. Rear systems sound better to me. Ive just got the Roe supercharger on 5lbs boost. About to go 10lbs. JMB Air Box (Long version) W/M and tune. That Lingenfelter setup on that Catwood dudes car is probably the most raucous I have heard....NHRA dragster sounding.

i have stock headers, no cats and magnaflow muffler. Do not go this route, as it drones like crazy and sounds like poo. I changed out the magna flow for corsa and it sounded so much better and barley if any drone even without all 4 cats.

it also provides a lot of popping on decel while the magnaflow did not. ill post a sound clip of my magnaflow catless setup when i get some time.

also i have a 04 and getting rid of the crossover helped a lot with heat. the feet area was still hot but gutting or getting rid of the cats fixed that. You could always put down some dynamat.

If you gut the cats, make sure to put a 02 extension or else the eng light will come on.

i once heard a gen 3 viper with belangers, high flow cats, corsa, and original crossover and it sounded amazing when he stepped on it and a nice rumple at idle. for me, it was a bit too quiet.
