I recently had the Corsa Track Exhaust and Roe Insulation installed at Tator Dodge - Chuck great job. My main initiative was to deal with the heat issues in the car and from the side sills. Second to that, performance and sound was also a factor.

Well I must say I absolutely love the Corsa Exhaust. Fit and finish is fantastic and the sound is awesome. You can cruise between 1000 and 2000 rpm and listen to the radio without and intrusion from the exhaust note. However from 2,000 the sound is ferocious. It actually scares people.

As for the heat, the combination of the Corsa Exhaust and Roe Insulation redused the heat by 50%. No longer do I get the excessive heat at my feet. The cabin is now comfortable with the top down in 80+ degree weather. The side sills are warm to the touch after spirited driving but will not burn you when exiting now. I have a scar or two prior to the installation to keep with me forever.

Chuck did a great job on the installation and centering the exhaust to account for expansion. All in all, it moves roughly a half inch.

While the car was there, I had Chuck install the Hurst Shifter as well. Another great mod which I am extremely happy with. The shifts are now clean and exact. The feel is great and love the mechanical feel. The shifter is tight and now centers itself (my orginal one was a little sloppy).

Just wanted to post my comments since I am sure many of you are looking for real life observations just as I was.

What knob did you get for the Hurst? And how high does it
stick up? Have been thinking of that mod myself but did
not like the knob.

One of the very few complaints I have with my 2003 is that after 18000 miles of break in, the shifter still does not center itself.

Both athe stock shifter and the Hurst / Mopar shifter re 1/2-20 sae fine thread but the shaft is to short for the ball type knob as it sit way down into the boot. a Momno ALUCO Comp Knob works very well and is a good height. If you want to extend the shaft so as to use the viper logo knob I make them in my shop. They raise the shift knob about 1"-1-1/2" higher. I have pictures posted at http://gallery.viperclub.org/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/8614 using a Hurst white knob which I prefer. I also have a Viper Logo Black Knob with Red Logo for sale if anyone needs it.
We also make kits to reduce the heat from the exhaust system inside the cabin by 80%.

At Chucks suggestion, I took my stock shifter to a mchine shop and had them cut it down. They basically cut from 3/4 of an inch from the knob and then welded back on the threaded shaft. On the car the shifter in the perfect height for me. While if you look closely you can see the weld, it doesnt bother me at all. I wanted to retain the stock shifter since it is the Red knob for my Mamba.

Anytime. Insight and experiences are invaluable and that is what this forum is for.

While the Corsa is expensive, for me it was worth it. I personally love the sound and the performance enhancement is a plus. As far as the heat goes, the car is now far more comfortable to drive.

Think about the insulation as well. While I have never been in a car with the Corsa without insulation, Chuck recommended I get it so I am sure it helps.

Nader,

Was there any possibility of removing the knob and cutting the shaft to the desired length from the threaded side - and had the machine shop make new threads theh same original size so that the orignal knob could be put back on it?

I would also like the shaft to be a little shorter but would like to keep the red stock knob since it matches the rest of the Mamba interior.

Thanks for your help.

sorry but that is the worst weld job I have ever seen. You might try chucking it in a lathe and cutting down the shank. Then polish it while it is in the lathe.

Cant take the ball off since it is eithered glued or volcanized in place.
