What is the difference between a gen 3 & gen 4 oem muffler ?

Other than the number of clamps, I don't think there is any.

The gen4 muffler is a hybrid design that has a puls cancellation front half and conventional rear half. The previous cars had just conventional packed mufflers. I would suspect the newer systems flow a tad better.

No. The gen iv's have a true side exhaust.
