Making a roadtrip from Pueblo, CO to Kansas City and don't want to end up sitting next to the road waiting for gas. My car is a 2002 GTS, Corsa exhaust, Random Tech high flow cats, Belanger headers, K&N/Smooth Tubes. Conservatively, what kind of mileage could I expect at 75 m.p.h. in 6th driving conservatively (no WOT, etc...)? I know this is a very subjective question but could I reasonably expect 200 miles per tank?

Thanks,

Jim

On the highway, you can easily expect 200 to a tank. If you only get 15 MPG (which is low) and you only use 16 of the 18.5 gallons in the tank, you're at 240 miles. Up your mileage to 18 and you're near 300. I'd plan my stops at 300 or so and adjust from there.

play it safe for the first few gas stops and stop at 200 miles. you will get an idea of what the mileage is at that time and can guage it better going forward.

Driving similarly from Fresno CA to Portland OR, I got on average 23MPG in my 2001.

You'll get more miles out of the tank than you think...

When I bought mine back in December in Phoenix, I drove it back to Denver w/ average speed of 80-85 mph. I was getting 21-22 mpg. Keep the rpm's down and you will be fine.

I remember getting close to 25 mpg running 70 mph (Kansas speed limit) on a one hour roundtrip just to see what the mileage would be.

Best I've averaged in a Gen I was 23 mpg, and 22 mpg in a Gen II (3400 mile trips, meticulous records). With the larger Gen I tank, thats a range of close to 500 miles per tank in a Gen 1 and a bit less than 400 miles per tank for a Gen II. This does assume interstate driving, sixth gear. Mileage seems to be best in the 65-85 mph range.

Sixth gear cruising at that speed, you should easily get 300 miles to a tank. I would say to stop every 250 miles just to be safe. Good luck with the road trip.
