The following was posted by Viper Wizard many years ago. For a '94 rt. NOT FOR A GEN2!!!

Just want to confirm if anything has changed wrt service bulletins etc. or highly recommended changes to it please.

Antifreeze: 16qts.
Long life antifreeze it's good,BUT the green antifreeze [reg] and the red antifreeze [LL] DO NOT MIX! So in order to use the long life antifreeze you would have to get all of the old out.[pita!]
So- Name brand is ok. Here at the Dealership we use "Pennzoil,s antifreeze".& >
Mopar green #4267020AB[reg] or Mopar red #5066386AA[LL]

Brake fluid for normal usage:
DOT 3 Name brand ok or Mopar #4318080

Clutch fluid:
Same as brake fluid.

Differential fluid: 2qts. + additive
Mopar #4874469 75W-140 Synthetic
Mopar Limited Slip Additive #4318060AB 4oz.

Transmission fluid: 4qts.
Dexron III

Power steering fluid: 20oz.
Name brand or Mopar #4883077

The worst fluid to change is the COOLANT!! It will take some time to burp the system! Make a note as to how much you take out! Then you'll know how much you have to get back in her!

Oil filter P/N# 5281090 and mobile 1 10w-30 8.5qts.

With oil filter the stock Gen 1 Motor takes 10 quarts...hell, most new Viper techs even get that wrong...

I would do some searching before dumping in 10 quarts. I am probably wrong but I swear my 95 takes 8.5. I will confirm in November.

Perhaps your engine was replaced with a GEN2 which does take 8.5 quarts. My 94' takes exactly 10.5 quarts to top off.

They have dipsticks to measure how much oil you have, ya know? Most people don't just dump in the recommended amount and close the lid.....MOST Vipers take between 8.5-10 quarts. Mine happens to take 9.5.

Are you ready for this:
Since I have a 1996 RT/10 - GEN1, I have the Service Manual for the '96 RT/10.
I alsohavethe Service Manual for the 1996 GTS GEN2.

Here is what the service manuals say (Section 0, page 2 (0-2))
RT/10 - GEN1 -- 10 qts. with filter
GTS - GEN2 -- 7.5 qts. with filter (not a typo error on my part - 7.5)

Put in oil (less than capacity), let it set, like over night, then USE the dipstick.

Later,

Not sure overnight is needed, but I would put it in until the dipstick reads full, turn the engine on and let the oil circulate through the filter, turn off, then check, you'll need to add at least another 1/2 quart after circulation.
