Hi folks,

I have some serious trouble getting my fog lights to work.
Actually, I've never seen them work...
The previous owner told me that he once got a ticket downtown PDX for having his fog lights on.
I never actually tried them until recently. Nothing happens. Dead. All other lights work normal. It's only the fog lights. Since it is both lights, I do not think it's the bulbs (too much of a coincidence). I also checked the fuse : it was OK.
Anybody any clue what is going on ? I am currently working on an interior project so would like to solve it while everything is easily accessible. Below you can see a picture of the button + wiring. One thing though : when I try to switch on the button, the green ligth on the button itself does not illuminate (I drew a red circle around it). Also plain dead. Again...no clue. Please help me out. So frustrating. The only thing on my car that does not work.

I am not familiar with Gen 1 cars, so can you tell me one thing..... are these factory fog lights or after markets?

If you can make it Friday to the meeting, I'm sure we can ask around and get an answer for you or at least some help in the right direction.

Mine don't work unless I have the headlights on.

May seem dumb, but I caught myself expecting them to come on with out first turning the headlights on.

Cody,

Thanks. Didn't know there was a meeting on Friday (as usual, haha)

Bad Byte, thanks for the hint, but I was aware of that. Read up on everything, both user manual and shop manual.

Hey Yves,
Like Bad Byte said, have you turned them on with the headlights? Mine also only works with the headlights.

Check to see if the wiring connector is attached to the switch on the console. If the previous owner ever pulled the trim off he may not have replaced the wiring (especially if he did not want to use them). Second thing would be to check the wire at the fuse box (passenger side under the IP). There is another thread that indicates which wire and terminal is the fog lamps. Many people moved the wire to allow fog lamp use without the headlamps. If so maybe it fell out.

Yves,

I don't know if you've already got one of those current testers, but start probing around for current. I have one that looks like a pointed tip screwdriver with a ground wire clip and an indicator light that lights up when there's 12-volts. This will tell you where there's a break in the line. Maybe a relay out? Hope this helps.

Warren.
