Wow, that's my car at Mid-Ohio!!! Heh, Chris, put this one up as my new photo, as the car looks wicked with the 19's!!! Mark at Forgeline wanted to check out how the wheels would look on a Black car, and Bobby Archer ( Bobby Archer Motorsports ) asked to borrow my car for a quick demo. Clueless, here, didn't realize they were going to photograph it, so this is my first view, too_Okay, guys, this is mean, cause now ya got me thinking bout them big meats!!

Has that car been lowered, or is that the result of the increased height of the tires with the 19's? I think the VR1's look great, but as I understand it the only 19" tires that fit those wheels are about an inch higher overall than the stockers. The speedo problem that would cause probably could be easily fixed (or simply ignored), but what about the ABS problem on the 2001 cars?

Yes that car is lowered, otherwise the sometimes fastoldman who is short would not be able to get over the sidesills.

Why would there be an ABS problem, given that both the front and rears will be larger by the same ratio??

To answer the question, NO, there is not going to be a problem

Nice,

but am I the only one that thinks they look a little 'too much' like Z06 wheels? 12 spoke vs. 10 spoke. Forgeline's are quality wheels, though...

Are the rears 345s or 335s?

Is suspension travel lost?

Is there any rub during steering?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Ben, in the first place I don't think the tires would be larger by the same ratio. At least as far as Pilots go, I think the only possible choice for the rear is a 345/30, which is 1.3" taller than stock. The front is available in a 275/30, which is the same height as stock but would be 1.7" shorter than the 345/30 on the rear. You could get close to similar heights by dropping down width wise on the front to a 255/40, but that might not be a good thing for overall handling. And even if you could get the fronts and rears similar in height (but still an inch or more taller than stock), I'm still not convinced that the ABS is not calibrated for a specific height range anyway.

I hope there are some tires that will work on those wheels with the ABS, but I'm not convinced at this point.

The forgeline rep just sent me some pics of the VR1 Wheel mounted but I cant upload them. The file size is too big. I'll send them to Vipermad and hopefully he can post them!

Err, apologies, I was a bit brusque in my initial reply. Sooo...

I've got two '01s with ABS, and on them thus far I've run:

275/35-18s and 335/30-18s (stock size)
5.0x5.25-16s and 26x11.5-16s (drag race slicks & skinnies combo)
11.5x?-18 and 14.0x?-16s (goodyear roadrace slicks)

and the ABS has worked flawlessly in all cases.

Now with the Forgeline 19s, I'll be running 295/35-19 and 345/30-19 Pilot Sports

The tire circumference for those is 85.23" and 85.29", compared with stock circumferences of 80.36" and 81.41", for a difference of 6.06% and 4.77% respectively. So you are correct, the ratios aren't exact; there is a 1% difference in the ratios with the 19" Forgelines vs the 18" Stockers. However, with the forgelines the front and rear circumference are almost exactly the same, which oddly enough is exactly the situation encountered when running the drag slicks & skinnies. Thus, I do not anticipate any ABS problems when running the Forgeline 19s with the above tire sizes. If I encounter any, this board will be the first to hear about it

Ben, thanks for the reply, and make sure and let us know how they work. I was looking at tire height rather than circumference and assumed a difference of over an inch in height may be a problem (the difference between the stockers is .4"). I love the wheels and may get some myself if they don't cause a problem.

I think the wheels look similar to the 2003 SRT10 wheel but better.I don't think 19" wheels have to go on lowered cars because I have 19" and my car is not lowered. As far as the size difference, with pzero's on my 19" wheel there is less than 1/2" difference from stock 17" side by side.I tried michelin tires but I did not like the look and they were taller than pzero's.

Now THIS is the wheel that should be on the SRT-10. If you are gonna have 6 lugs, the right thing to have is a spoke count divisible by 6... This has a much more consistent look that forcing a variant of 5 on a 6 lug pattern. The design is right as it is even and symmetrical all the way to the hub.

Phew, feel better after getting that off my chest....

PS - [Edit] 2tall - Archer Racing, Bobby Archer Motorsports, PartsRack and Forgeline direct all sell the new VR1's.... Shop around...
