front licence plates

For those in states that require them, what do you do? Nothing funks up the front look of the Viper more!

Never put one on but bought a front braket from i guess viper parts of america? ( awhile back) no drilling just snaps on the front bumper (its some sort of composite rubber). still in my hatch collecting dust

I got the rubber clip on one from Parts Rack. It comes off in seconds and doesn't harm the paint. Motorized one require drilling holes in the bottom which I did not like.

I have the Parts Rack mount as well. It's two blocks of really soft plasticy rubber that slide perfectly over your front air intake cross section thing and then wrap around in the back. You have to drill into the mount itself to get the screws right where you want them to hold the plate to the mount, but you do not have to drill into or damage your car. When you want to take it off (like when you travel into a no-plate state), you just reach behind it, spread the fingers apart, and pull it off. Easy peasy. I have seen no marring or damaging of my paint so far.

I do recommend that you frame out your plate though. Just a rectangle of steel or Aluminum behind it should work. Otherwise, your flimsy license plate has to hold together these two heavy plastic blocks. I don't have mine reinforced and it's bent up a bit. It looks like I run into cars parallel parking all the time, but it's just getting this way from me handling it all the time.

How about adhesive front license plates? Is that allowed?

I was thinking of scanning mine, then reducing it to the size of a playing card and just throwing it on the dash? Do you think that will pass the stink test? I see a lot of cars that just have the plate laying on the dash?

Use the bracket from Parts Rack and keep it in the back and if stopped say you just washed your car and forgot to put it back on......................works for me.

Ditto, that has worked for me as well. I survived for about 7 years with not tickets, then I started getting pulled over left and right a few years ago. Not that the $75 ticket doesn't sting a bit, it's more about the time hassle. It seems I lost about 45 minutes each time I got pulled over. I finally gave up and put the parts rack unit on.
