fun viper vs. vette story

so i'm parked in front of a restaraunt yesterday, and a family comes out to get their car, and the son, about 12, is goo goo eyed over my car. He asks me the ususal, how fast will it go" questions, "did you get it around here", etc.....i let him sit in it, and he was in heaven. As he's sitting in it, his dad asks me a few questions, thanks me for being so nice, etc....and tells me he has an 07 Vette. i'm very nice, and engage in nice conversation, but i have to womder what he was thinking when his son looks at the Viper the way he did. BTW- there was a pretty nice looking, blacked out Vette convertible parked right across from my car, and i don't even think the kid noticed it.
a proud "Viper owner" moment for me...............

LOL...yeah, people do that to our Vipers, don't they? Mike & I take both cars out, and it's so funny, if I'm driving the Vette (and if I AM, I'm of course BEHIND the Viper....)....and people actually cut in front of me to be BEHIND the Viper...I laugh, let them in...and of course, am totally ignored, which is fine with me, the VIPER is the all-time beast. Thanks for your story, and you didn't even BASH the Vette...kudos to you! Happy New Year....juli

I will be honest with you....when I bought my Z, I thought it looked a lot better than the SRT Convertibles (Coupe wasn't even out yet, this was in '05).

But even I felt a little bland when I parked next to you at AMS. I really like the Coupes, especially the '08s. And blue is probably my favorite color on a car! It's an awesome looking vehicle, that's for sure.

hmmmm.... I wonder if the price difference makes it worth that momentary feeling?

I organized a charity track event a few months ago (our second annual). It was to help mentor and motivate disadvantaged kids by giving them rides in our cars and talking to them about life, about making good decisions and what it takes to succeed etc. Anyway, there were 25 cars. Ferrari 599, Enzo, Maseratti, McLaren SLR, Porsche Carrera GT, GT-40, all kinds of cool rides.

Of course the media was there and it was a fantastic event.

Well - the kids are each assigned 4 cars to ride in. After each kid gets their assigned rides they usually beg a couple of other rides. It's all good.

The next day there's a picture in the local newspaper of a kid standing beside a car owner and his Ferrari 599. The quote from the kid was "I really like the Ferrari but I just gotta get myself a Viper like that black one over there one day!"

I've seen two in person and sat in one. This has to be next in line to the Pontiac Aztek in ugliness. I'd feel much better pulling up in a Viper then a Reventon. Its a Murci with a gag-me-with-a-spoon body kit.

If you win the lottery and/or the Reventon, I fully expect you to trade it to me for my Viper

I had a Gallardo for a while, it definitely gets more looks than the Viper. No doubt about it. I could never drive it comfortably, though. No warranty = no confidence when tracking
