Gas Milleage

I only have 300 miles on him and have filled up 3 times. Looks like I'm averaging 13 MPG
I know you don't buy a viper for the gas Milleage but on the gen 1&2 cars I got around 20 MPG on the highway
When you fill it up you have a 200 mile range so on a long cruse you need to look ahead for your gas stops
Not complaining just noticing it might be easy to run out of gas if your not careful

Window Sticker states 12 MPG city and 19 MPG Hwy with average of 15 MPG... so your on the low side of average but that depends on how many highway miles
you have driven and how hard, plus your only at 300 miles.......after a few thousand miles or more you should start to see the 15 MPG or better....of course it all depends on how hard you drive.. and how many highway

Setting the cruise at 75 got me right around 20 mpg on a 150 mile drive last week. But yeah, spirited driving around town you can watch the gas gauge drop almost as fast as your mph climbs.

You have a heavy foot. On my week long 2,700 mile road trip across the country, the car averaged 18.6 mpg. With spirited driving, usually 10-15 mph over the speed limit on the highways.

One thing I did learn is to never let the tank get below 1/4 tank. That region of the fuel gauge drops waaaaay faster than the rest of the gauge. If you are at 1/4 tank, you'll be in the red zone after about 30 more miles. The gauge drops quickly in that range.

Exactly. Been caught twice in that situation during our road trip week, two different Gen 5's.

This happened to me the day after I bought it. I was about 10 miles out of town when the light dinged on. Within 5 miles got really nervous so I turned around and went back.

Not to hijack your thread, but I'd take single digit mpg to have a car that looks like that.....stunning from those angles. Enjoy.

Welcome to the Viper World.My Vipers sucked gas like crazy.The only car that I know that you can and will see the gas gauge go down when you get on it.It is what it is...

I get the same 12-13 MPG with mixed driving and I can get 20-24 MPG on the highway. The "secret" is keeping your revs around 2K and not resting your foot on the accelerator. Just give it enough pressure to maintain the speed, or use cruise control. The 70-80 MPH seems to be the sweet spot in 6th for best range. The MPG you get in a Viper is about the same as a pickup truck but a lot more fun.

Wish the Gen V came with a bigger fuel tank, mileage be damned. I thought the Gen IV had little enough range, and the Gen V has gone backwards in this department.

Almost all of my driving has been in the rain so I have been easy on it
My first tank I was at 1/4 and started looking far a station about 20 miles later the light came on as I was pulling in the station
I'm thinking that UCONNECT find nearest gas is a great app
Now I just buy gas at 1/2 every 100 miles or so LOL

Normal for new cars to get less mileage within the first 1-2000 miles. Takes a while for everything to break in, and you are spending more time showing your car off to everyone you know.

All my Vipers have gotten 12-16 mpg in the city traffic and +20 mpg on the open highway. Just a bit better than my Jeep.

I think Mine was $3500.00 and at 4.20 per gal thats .35 per mile, 35. per 100, 350 per 1000, 3500 per 10000 but my boat only gets 1 mile per gal life is great drive fast

Which, in terms of it being a "gas guzzler" - makes no real sense. If your car is a gas guzzler, it will use more gas and you'll pay more gas tax at the pump...

I get it, it is a luxury tax.

Even worse is you pay registration tax on the gas guzzler, which is insanity. Taxing taxes.

I think my gas guzzler tax was $3500.00 and my wife bought a ford plugin hybrid and got a $3500.00 tax credit go figure

Don't forget the $8800.00 sales tax but my dealer said you can write that off your taxes this year

It does including the Abarth. I average 22mpg on my ACR and my Fiat 500, that is if you factor in I get 12mpg on the ACR and 29mpg on the Fiat.

By the way Jetstar: love your Viper. If I ever get one it will be black.

It was $2,600 for me...and that usually goes to offset the $7,500 tax credit for eco-****** mobiles like the Prius and Volt.

On that note, you pay $40K for a Volt and end up with a car that's comparable to any gas-only vehicle in the $15K range. So even with the $7,500 credit on your tax return, you are still paying a $17,500 eco-****** premium to drive a Volt.

$2,600 to buy a badass Viper.
$17,500 to buy a ******* eco-****.

The numbers don't lie.

As I was staring down the largest sales tax figure I've ever paid during the signing I kept reminding myself that a decent portion of it was going to offset whatever I owe next April 15. Now if I can just find a way to write off even more through my wife's law firm I'll be even happier. Lol

I dont have a beautiful new gen Viper, but obviously the mileage is less necause of the gear ratio....I feel that the new Viper shoulda stayed with the 3.07 gears....I bet it would be faster in the 1/4 mi and top end and for sure better gas mileage as the old Vipers before it....now alot of people are gonna disagree with me...this is just MY opinion and you know what they say about that......BUT who cares about the gas mileage? I love the new Viper anyway...it is beautiful in every way...again TO ME.......ENJOY them....you lucky owners.....

I'm sure you'll a couple more mpg when your motor loosens up. Give it a few thousand miles. Vary the rpms and lots of strong acceleration without redlining it.

3.31 is the sweet sport. Zr1, FGT, 13/14 GT500 all have that ratio and they pull beautifully, go over 200 mph, and get good gas millage. No reason for higher than that other than tire burning and drag racing.

Pretty important to list the individual transmission ratios too as those effect launch (especially 1st gear ratio) and the rest of the acceleration curve regardless of the rear ratio. 3.31 might be fast on supercharged cars, but FGT owners who upgraded to a lower 3.90 aftermarket ring and pinion love the feel of the car, even with 700 plus rwhp on modded FGTs. Lot more fun to drive on the street and the track.

Having a car with 3.07's is like driving a car with a Powerglide.....might be fast in a straight line but not as much fun as 5 or 6 individual gears to choose from.

I'm not sure why they revised the rear and 6th at the same time. Pretty sure no one ever uses 6th on a track day unless you have a really long track or some huge power. I'd prefer to see the old .5 6th gear or maybe even a touch lower as an almost purely "cruise" gear.
