When you are locking a Gen 1 hardtop, what way should the front latches be turned? ex.--when locking the driver side latch, should it turn to the left or right to get in the locked position? Same question for the passenger side. I had both my latches off and now I cant remember what way they used to turn.

Part 2--does anyone else have a extremely hardtop getting the latches to lock? I usually have to have a friend put all his bodyweight on the top of the top, so the latches will go down far enough in the hole mounted to the windshield for them to lock?! I really wish I could justify Jeff's 3 piece top and put this mopar top where it belongs....

drivers side should be turned counter clockwise as viewed from insude the car, looking up at it. the passanger side should be turned clockwise, again from the inside. my gen was had the vipermania top and was very easy to latch. now i have a gen II with the factory top and i have the same issue that you do, need body weight to get it to latch. i am not over familiar with Ga, just moved here a few months ago, how far are you from say douglasville?

Thanks guys, I think I got it. And this morning, I was able to latch it just by sticking my arm out the window and pressing down on the top while turning the allen wrecnch with the other hand. Thats a heckuva lot easier than in the past. Right now, I'm waiting on the threadlocker to dry so the nut doesnt fall off and I have to go hunting for a missing hardtop latch again. Speaking of that, how long should I let the threadlocker dry? The package didnt say

V10.....,
Sounds like you have it solved: I'm not sure about this clockwise/counter clockwise stuff..... With the latch handle rotated to point to the center of the car (both sides), rotate to latch top toward the outside. If you look (at least on mine) at the latch, when the handle is pointing to the center, you should see the latch 'blade' is "straight" with the top, then when you rotate it to the outside all the way, the blade is now NOT straight with the top, thus it is in the latched position.
Yes, just slight, but firm pressure needed to press the top down.

Later,
