I did a forum search and have been looking for the answer to this with no luck for a while.

I don't see anything regarding tuning options for the 1993-1995 Vipers, nor do I see any sites offering tuning for these years. Is there a particular reason they can't be tuned?

What do owners do when they add superchargers to the GEN 1's?

My second question is what is the limits of the GEN 1's before the factory ECU can no longer compensate for mods? Exhaust, Intake, Cam,.....

Looking to purchase another Viper in the next few months and was planning on getting a 1995 Viper and adding Exhaust, Intake, Heads, and a Cam.

Thanks in advance.

I thought I remember reading a while back that DC Performance could flash the gen 1 computers (before they went out of business). I think it's a more complicated deal than just plugging in a tuner and having at it, but it sounded like you could still maintain a "stock" ECU for some mods. Don't know the extent of its ability though. I'd imagine it could probably put up with heads/cam kind of stuff, but doubtful on any kind of FI due to the MAP sensor needing to be swapped out.

You can tune it with a VEC, I believe that's what most do with gen 1's.

Once you add a different cam, heads, or injectors the stock PCM will no longer compensate for the mods.

I've heard the VEC mentioned, but I don't see any vendors selling it. Roe Racing sells the cards for it, but I don't see the the VEC itself for sale.

I had DC Performance tune mine after I installed the heads and cam. My car ran fine with the stock tune but it was a little lean but it put up some good numbers.

The Gen 1 controllers are tuneable. I do not yet advertise on this forum as my webpage is still in progress, but would be happy to help you with this. Feel free to PM.

Not sure how expensive the hardware is to do this, but could you put together a tuning package (maybe credit based like HPTuners) for the G1's? I love the Vec3 on my TT Gen1, but there are just some stuff I'd like to fiddle with in the stock computer.

Work with Dan - he and Chris were wonderful to work with - in the middle of business insanity for Dan. I have heads, exhaust, cam, and roller rockers. They even checked in with us a few weeks after we received the PCM back to see how it was working and if it needed anything changed.
