The tranny is already down and the clutch needs replacement. what options do i have for a better clutch ? mcloud, centerforce ? whatelse ..

Check out the latest offerings from Toddy at BBG. His clutch is the only official replacement clutch for the ACR-X Dodge Viper Cup race series and has been fully tested and approved by Dodge. Every 2011 ACR-X Viper Cup race winner runs a BBG clutch and there have been zero failures. BBG has both competition and street versions. Besides a bullet proof design and superior clamping force, you'll love the way your Gen 4 revs up faster because of the light weight assembly.

George is correct.... killer clutch... I run his drag race clutch.... Toddy at BBG has what you want and what you need.

What about the mcloud rxt $1300 from dc performance , tested too ! vs $2000 from BBG ?

That may be a good clutch also. I really can't speak for it since I don't run it. I do know that BBG's clutch is as good as it gets.

Whatever clutch you buy, be sure to have your Gen IV computer re-calibrated if you go lower weight than OE.

I have no clue about that.I don't think a lighter flywheel would make a difference mine is lighter then OEM by 7 lbs and I never had any issues but I run a Gen 3 so that may be different.

Here are a few points about our ACRX Competition Clutch and Sportsman Street / Track Clutch units. Our BBG high torque clutch systems are a severe duty design and come complete as a direct replacement rotating assembly (new flywheel / clutch) and are engineered substantially lighter in weight to improve the Viper's throttle response with quicker revs and faster deceleration speeds (reduced rotational mass)...:D

At BBG we started developing the Gen 4 ACRX clutch program in early 2010' with the ultimate goal to run in the Dodge Viper Cup race series. Our clutch has been thoroughly tested in house and by Chrysler to meet and exceed the harshest performance demands. We made the grade with zero failures under intense scrutiny by top engineers using our T6061 billet flywheels, RAM patented clutch discs and high clamp capacity 10" pressure plates. Most important our clutch assemblies operate within the parameters of Viper's hyper sensitive Venom and Mopar controllers (NO CEL's). To date we are well into the DVC race season and are having great success building a solid track record not only for race teams but Viper owners who may be considering clutch upgrades and demand proven performance!

Versions depending upon your intended application:
1) High performance street / track application utilizing smooth engaging organic friction material (maintaining stock like pedal feel).
2) ACRX competition units utilizing sintered iron friction material (maintaining stock like pedal feel).
3) 25% weight reduction

FYI - We (BBG) and Chrysler highly recommend a TEC re-learn using a factory StarSCAN tool. This is a straight forward process to ensure a good install and can be done at your local Dodge dealer for a minimal cost.

Buyer beware that a TEC re-learn may not work on other manufactures light weight flywheel / clutch set-ups, we've seen terminal CEL's where the re-learn won't fix... So word to the wise, be careful with "whatever" when your lookin to upgrade..

Upgrade with proven performance or keep it stock!!

I had my TEC cleared ( Tooth Correction Error ) And relearned by going 4000rpm in second and then taking your foot of the gas down to 2000 rpm do this a couple times and that should do it

I just installed the BBG clutch, ported intake and cylinder head package. The 2008 ran far better than it ever has. We placed on the podium in TT Unlimited at Hastings.

Toddy, just curious, but I know that Dodge reflashes the X's if they run your clutch. Are you saying that a normal Mopar Performance Controller that is not reflashed will not have an issue? If this is the case why is Dodge reflashing them? I will eventually need another clutch and I want to make sure that I won't have an issue. I am uncertain why they would purposely reflash the computer program to account for the lightweight clutch/flywheel on the X but us mortals :) would not be able to do this. Thanks for any info you can shine on this

I can only go so far with an answer. Chrysler reflashes the ACRX's for several reasons, one being they have that capabilty to do so, unlike us mortals.:mad: The ACRX's are seeing conditions that the Venom and Mopar controller's were not originally calibrated for, so it would make sense to unlock the Black Box, unleash a bit more power possibly and de-sensitize a few functions that would make CEL's and LIMP mode problematic.. These are key questions when making a performance clutch decision so that's why it's very important to purchase a proven product or just keep it stock.

When installing our ACXR Comp Clutch or Sportsman Street / Track Clutch we recommend that a TEC re-learn via a factory StarSCAN tool be performed, whether your running a Venom or Mopar PC. All race teams have access to our installation tech sheet through Viper Racing Headquarters website's competitior area, which clearly states this information (FYI).

I have had check engine lights on the SPEC clutch. Our Clutch built in conjunction with Mc Leod does not have this issue.

Can someone explain why a check engine light would even come on due to a clutch change? It just seems a bit absurd, never heard of this before on any other vehicles. Is this only an issue for the Gen 4 cars?

We don't know the extent our competitors test and prove their products, but we (BBG) are proud to say this weekend at Texas World Speedway's high banked oval / road course, the entire field of ACR-X competitors in the "Dodge Viper Cup" race series are running our BBG Competition Clutch Kits. Another exciting venture this month will be when Mr. Ralph Gilles pilot's his Dodge Motorsports prepped ACR-X at Targa Newfoundland with our BBG clutch kit installed. :usa:
