Gen V wheels?

I was driving down the road and saw a BMW that looked like it had on the Rims that were on the Gen V car.

I don't think the rims were not well received from the folks I talked to and they looked very close to this although much bigger and Viper sized.

After searching it seems to be a trend to have the "split" 5-6 spoke rims now on the newer cars. These are supposedly the BMW M5 rims.

Your thoughts on if these look close to what was on the Gen V at VOI?

The double-negatives and absent punctuation in your question below have me confused, but the wheel below looks NOTHING even remotely close to what was on the Gen-V Mock up at VOI. The only element of the G-V that I did NOT like, was the goofy 'flower-petal' looking wheels with lobed-spokes. Even Tom Gale hiz-self tactfully said the wheels were a 'questionable choice.'

For a symetrical, balanced look, if you have 6 lugs, you gotta have 6 spokes.

For a symetrical, balanced look, if you have 6 lugs, you gotta have 6 spokes.

I will respectfully disagree...I do agree 6 lugs centered in 6 spokes is symetrical, but 5 spoke wheels are timeless, and look the most appropriate. There is a reason bascially every other car on the planet has 5 lugs and 5 spoke wheels...

Lets hope not on those Beamer wheels as they look cheap and clear coated. Great for a used sedan.

Jon B, I agree 100% re the Gen 5 wheels, they do not belong on a Viper or any hi performance sportscar imho. They are more like Driving Miss Daisy Wheels. The rest of the car which we were allowed to see displayed a curvy musculature reminescent of the Gen 2.

Sorry but I don't think these wheels look anything like the one on the new Viper we saw that night. They looked more like a 5 petal flower with somewhat of an oval opening than the wheels shown above. I liked the car but didn't care for the wheels. I'm guessing that more wheels will be available other than the ones shown on the car that night. I'm also sure that when photos of the car are made public we will all have comments and suggestions on what we liked and disliked about the new Viper. I'm sure the end result will be a Viper we can be proud of... at least the majority of us. I'm sure there will be nay sayers on the new design also.

You're wrong - I dont agree. Most of the factory Viper wheels are 5 spoke or a variation of. 6 lugs on a car is just a terrible idea overall, and I won't admit otherwise just cause it's a Viper....there, that makes PERFECT sense.

Yeah, I would hope they switch to a 5 lug set up on the Gen V. I LOVE 5 spoke wheels, never been a fan of "even numbered" spokes.

....and that reason is: the majority of those cars are 5-lugs! 5 holes/Nuts with 5 spokes looks great ! My 2nd choice would be a 5-spoke on 6 lugs.....so no real disagreement

I thought I would notice it more on my 5 spoke set, but honestly I never notice it at all. The split 5 spoke looks fantastic as well.

That's why there's a market for custom wheels, everyone likes something different.

Very similar to the stock wheels that were on my 2008 M6. Look okay, but they were a PITA to keep clean.
