Gen1 Cooling upgrade!!!!

I have a early Gen 1 1993, it has the radiator cap on radiator, only a overflow bottle in the facia. No expansion tank on fender.

I purchased a Ron Davis radiator, upgrade fan from JonB as well as the overflow bottle.
Later I realised that the upgrade was not going to be this easy. I needed a complete radiator support from Chuck ($700), a inner fender from Paul to complete the upgrade.

Now the problem is that all above does not seem to work. If I understand properly, there seems to be a hose going from overflow tank into the waterpump. My waterpump does not have a inlet for anything. Am I looking at new waterpump too and a midget to replace it? It is an absolute bitzh to replace...

Has anyone here done the same upgrade, please contact me. Dan even called Chuck, but he has not done this type of upgrade on early Gen 1.

Chuck has helped us a lot, getting the radiator support before flying to England etc.. It just seems to be an oddball combo from which I am starting.

Yes, Ron Davis Racing Radiators. I'm sure the fit in a Gen 2 is no problem.

It is obvious you misunderstood my point. If the guru himself can't figure it out, who can? Nobody? Obviously he can figure it out if he had the car for a little while and had some time to go through it...That's what I Meant, next time I will spell it out and be exact as to avoid anyone's misunderstanding..so sorry if I upset you Dan.

Lauri: I have a early 1993 which is actually a 1992 carryover car. I installed the Ron Davis radiator and it fit "like a glove". No problems at all. Probably one of the best fitting aftermarket parts that i've installed.
I ordered mine direct from Davis in Arizona. You might get in contact with them and ask for some help. You may not have the right part. Remember me, i'm the guy that you bought the vec-1 and intake from. Good luck.

I got my Ron Davis from Jon B @ Parts Rack. It was cheaper than going straight to Ron Davis. Don't know how that worked, but it was cheaper that way.

Does your Davis radiator have a radiator cap on it???? Mine doesnt and thats the initial point of headackes. I bought mine from JonB.

I figured out a way for this to work, We will have to tee into the lower rad hose to the bottom of the expansion tank. We will also have to tee that line to the other coolant temp sensor line. Laurie we also have to replace the fan plug as your orginal had the duel fans with two plugs, this is a single fan with three wire plug..One thing after another with this car!!

Lauri: It looks like you have the wrong radiator. I have the early 1993 car with dual fans and radiator with cap. My Davis radiator came with a cap and was a perfect fit.
I ordered direct from Davis and they knew exactly what I needed. These guys are very knowledgable and familiar with gen1 radiators.

It is actaully better to have the one he bought. This upgrades the cooling system with the expansion tank. There is a reason they went this way from 94 up!
