Friday was the first dyno day for my Gen1 ROE project. I'll post pics and the graph later. It made 600 RWHP and 600ft-lb. It is FAST! I didn't realize just how much power that is when I started this. It's like learning a brand new car. I'm very happy with the fit and finish of the kit and the work.

My engine mods are:

ROE SC with 6.5lb pulley
Greg Good Heads (305 cfm intake flow)
708 CAM
1.7 T&D rocker arms
Edelbrock Headers
ROE 3" Exhaust
K&N Air Filters & Smooth Tubes

Of interest is that I did not upgrade the Throttle Bodies. We measured the intake tube pressure before the SC, and there was about 3lbs of negative pressure. So, the TB, tubes, and airbox are noticably impacting the airflow of the SC. I plan on doing some upgrades there to dyno the difference between my stock 56mm and upgraded.

There is no noticable SC whine. That was a pleasant surprise. If you listen closely, you can just barely hear something when I blip the throttle to rev up the engine.

The ROE side exhaust is loud with the SC. I love it when I'm WOT. I'll have to drive it for a bit, but it may be a bit too loud for daily driving. Cruising is no problem, but the side exhaust really echos of other cars in traffic.

I'll post some more impressions after driving it for a couple of weeks.

Thanks to the following folks for making this project happen.

Chris Pharr and David Weaver (Install and Tuning)
Greg Good (Heads)
Tony Armour (SC and parts)
Mike Scherzberg (parts)
Jon B (Partsrack parts)
ROE Racing (parts and support)

congrats Chris, sounds like you got the beast you wanted. Those are some great numbers for only having a 6.5# pulley :2tu:

Talk with Sean about using Dynamax Cones in the exhaust to lower the DB without reducing backpreasure. I used these on my Roe exhaust (per Sean's approval) and they made the difference I was looking for. Hope this helps!
Great post on the numbers, keep the data coming! :2tu:

wow great #'s. Those heads must really help. I have only seen mid 500 Hp #s' with stock gen1 heads, no ****, and headers.

I have to agree with dansauto on that, the 6.5lb roe with those supporting mods (*minus the heads*)should do ~aprox. 550rwhp on a Gen 1. Is the 600 RWHP you made "SAE corrected" on a dynojet? If so, very impressive numbers...

It was corrected. I'll post the dyno sheet when I can figure out how to post a picture using yahoo pictures. What you'll see is that the torque is pretty much flat from 2.5K RPM through 5.5K RPM. Peak torque is 595ft-lbs. At 2.5K RPM, it was 550. At 5.5K RPM, it was also 550. I believe that the peak torque is pretty close to what ROE shows on their site for a Gen1 without heads and CAM. The heads and CAM keep the torque up high well into the RPM range.

I am doing the same thing on my 1996 RT/10. I bought a used Roe supercharger off of a gen 2 & now am trying to adpapt it to my gen 1. I am having a problem finding a way to relocate the alternator. No one & I mean no one seems to have an adapter alternator bracket. Not even Sean Roe. I don't even know what it looks like or how it's mounted in order to fabricate one. Can you or anyone you know send me a picture with dimensions? I am in St. Louis, Mo. Thanks, John: 314-363-6115, ( [email protected] )

This is an 8 yr old thread, maybe try pm'ing the owner. Try Dan Craigin, or at the very least get a Gen II bracket and see how they mount up. I'd see if the Gen II bracket works and if not just place the alternator where you think it'll fit and whip up a bracket. If you have fabrication skills it shouldn't be that big of a deal.
