It was around $900 before...about $800 to your door from Tator. These are stupid prices. I can't believe another vendor doesn't produce the kit.

Are the ones that Tator is talking about #4626640AE the upgraded type for the Gen I

I am fixing to replace and I just wanted to make sure that I get the upgraded "3 layer metal" type instead of the "composite" paper type that will work on a Gen I

Someone can make them in China for pennies, sell 'em here for "dollars". If prices for domestic materials run too high, that will create the pressure to copy them overseas.

no one else makes these, The other alternative is to send out your head and have it orung and get a copper gasket. Its quite a bit cheaper and provides a better seal

I agree, while the demand would be low they could sell for $500, which is a large profit margin. Should be more than enough to cover the design costs, well I would think. Viper owners would think they are getting them for a steal at $500.

Anyone know of someone who can start the design and possible fabrication of these given a large enough initial buy?

I do if I can get a used metal one for a template. I sent the paper ones I had to someone to make them and never heard back from them.

Chuck is right, the price on these early gaskets are not right. I have contacted many manufacturers to make the early gaskets but they have not been interested (funny, because they make aftermarket Gen 2 gaskets).
