I was really pleased to see all the Vipers that showed up at the Mopar drags at Palmdale yesterday. I remember running last summer at Pomona, surrounded by hundreds of Chevy's and Fords, and there would be at most 2-3 Vipers. So, I was pleased that out of probably 125 cars running yesterday at Palmdale, we had at least 10 Vipers, with several more spectating.
It was great seeing many of you again and meeting others!
On a side note, SoCal Rebell fell mightily to the power of the '97 yesterday. His best time slip was 12.6 at 113.low to my best of 12.04 at 115.7. When we lined up head-to-head, he cracked under the pressure and red-lit (.418 -- yikes!) and ran a 12.73 at 113.0 to my 12.16 at 115.0. (In all fairness, I was running ET streets and he was on Pilot Sports.) Sorry Ron, better get that NX kit back or give Doug Levin a call. But don't be surprised if I show up some weekend with a heads and cam job!
P.S., Does anyone know the URL for the web site that has a computer for translating a time slip from one altitude, temp, humidity, etc., to sea level? I found it last year, but failed even after repeated attempts on Google today....I know Doug Dye was going to apply a correction of 6 tenths for ET, but I'm curious what the computer would say....
P.P.S.,
I will let you all know when I am going to Carlsbad next. Typically, I go for the Outlaw bracket races the last Sunday of each month. They run a time only group in parallel with the bracket racers, and the track is well-prepped (relatively speaking) for this event.
