I was really pleased to see all the Vipers that showed up at the Mopar drags at Palmdale yesterday. I remember running last summer at Pomona, surrounded by hundreds of Chevy's and Fords, and there would be at most 2-3 Vipers. So, I was pleased that out of probably 125 cars running yesterday at Palmdale, we had at least 10 Vipers, with several more spectating.

It was great seeing many of you again and meeting others!

On a side note, SoCal Rebell fell mightily to the power of the '97 yesterday. His best time slip was 12.6 at 113.low to my best of 12.04 at 115.7. When we lined up head-to-head, he cracked under the pressure and red-lit (.418 -- yikes!) and ran a 12.73 at 113.0 to my 12.16 at 115.0. (In all fairness, I was running ET streets and he was on Pilot Sports.) Sorry Ron, better get that NX kit back or give Doug Levin a call. But don't be surprised if I show up some weekend with a heads and cam job!

P.S., Does anyone know the URL for the web site that has a computer for translating a time slip from one altitude, temp, humidity, etc., to sea level? I found it last year, but failed even after repeated attempts on Google today....I know Doug Dye was going to apply a correction of 6 tenths for ET, but I'm curious what the computer would say....

P.P.S.,
I will let you all know when I am going to Carlsbad next. Typically, I go for the Outlaw bracket races the last Sunday of each month. They run a time only group in parallel with the bracket racers, and the track is well-prepped (relatively speaking) for this event.

Had a great time yesterday. My first time on the track was quite an adrenalin rush. Thanks to Ron (Socal Rebel) for all the help and hints. I learned alot and looking forward to Carlsbad. I also dyno'd my car to day with the stock ECU. 424.1 HP and 455.0 torque. With the stock ECU I lost 1 HP and 15lbs of torque compared to the performance ECU. Looks like I will reinstall the performance computer..

Perry, good to hear you had a good time and better to hear the Mopar ECU is working for you, I must of gotten a bad on. Track Conditions were awful, REAL slippery and HOT, around 95 but we all had a great time. See ya at Carlsbad, June 10th.

Oh yeah, Pavloff ***** (how am I doing Mumford).

Oh Ya, well according to MY super secret calculations my 12.46 @ 119 would have been an 11.25 @ 125 if I had raced somewhere else under different conditions. So there!

I was at Palmdale too, had a great time. It was the first time i had run my Viper at the drags. (Bone stock, not even k&n's 94 RT/10 Mich. Pilots @ 35psi). My best was a 13.558 @104.703 mph, at 11:26am (kinda hot).
I need to work on my launches, but I was there just for fun.
Are those times respectable for a stocker??

Thanks to all who attended for thier help and racing tips.
Cheers,
Scott

Scott,
It was good to meet you! Your 13.5 would've corrected to something like a 12.9-13.0, which is pretty close to the numbers that stock Gen I RT/10's run (upper 12's). Not bad for your first time out!

Beach,
Geeez, don't pump SoCal up like that! He's hard enough to deal with as it is!

SoCal,
FYI, even if you get slicks, I'll still kick you a$$....Don't forget you've got a 25 hp and 28 ft-lb disadvantage! Your only hope will be that a blow a shift, but don't count on it!

Whatever! The fact is you have yet to beat me, Viper vs. Viper. Yeah, you beat my Z06. BFD. The Z will soon be history (hopefully).

You need to get slicks if you want to run with the big dogs....
