im gonna be driving my GTS most of the time in the good weather. But im thinking it might be tough to get in my driveway with the ground clearance...It is a short, steep incline in the beginning of it. there is NO sidewalk or concrete in the entrance just asphalt.

im thinking if I go in on an angle it might be ok.

does anyone else have trouble with their driveway or getting into a lot?

any help is appreciated.

A 45-degree angle of attack lifts the nose gradually. If the facia drags a bit, it sounds excruciating, but no real damage is being done. It is very upward-flexible, and maybe just the air-dam skirt will rub.

Buy some colored Turtle Wax ("Color Back" ?) dyed wax that colors the scratches. Or buy an aluminum chinguard ($129, thanks) but that actually costs you 1/4" clearance, but it 'takes the hit' instead of the paint.

Worst case is buy a 4x8x.75" plywood sheet, cut it in half longways, paint to match the driveway, and "bridge" the gutter...finding a hiding place for the lumber may be a problem...

Maybe since you're getting a GTS, and it requires you to use the lumber, you could stick it in the hatch as long as you cut them to fit there and still be functional.

You will eventually scrape it. It's almost unavoidable. 3M makes a clear tape that you can apply over and under the whole edge. it will take the scrape too and then you can just peel it off and add another. I used 3M red reflective on my GTS and it was completely invisible during the day. At night, if headlights hit it just right, the whole thing lit up.

""Or buy an aluminum chinguard ($129, thanks)""....funny I assumed there would be something like that but was afraid to ask and look dumber than usual.

cause I am the guy who is worried about the room in the trunk for my golf clubs and I thought you were the one who mentioned to cut my driver if It didnt fit in...

I figured it was a reference to that and thought it was funny

I didn't advise you to "cut your driver." That was a good reason to laugh, though. No offense was taken on my first post, btw.

My dad and I found a 3 iron on the side of a golf course we had been driving by that had been broken. We put a grip on it and called it the "midget's club." I don't think the club came up past my knees.

Hey Plum, you're gonna scrape on a dip or some speed bump eventually. Also, avoid those nasty parking lot tire blocks will ya!

Check this out. My driveway doesn't have much of a dip, pretty standard fare, but I still have to angle it somewhat if I don't want it to scrape. In this picture, I'm only 1" from scraping the front... Remember to ANGLE, ANGLE...ANGLE!!!

By the way, here's my good ol method in finding that angle of attack,
just found a pair of 2x4s laying around... ;)

length of measuring stick = 8 feet
when it touches the lip, height at end = 19"
My Viper is stock height.

Get one of those chin guards, it'll save that front end
unless you don't mind swerving around them dips and bumps.
:p
