That is an Xtrac unit mounted in the rear, per Ralph and various press releases from SRT. I believe it's the same unit used by Corvette.

The tranny on this car is VERY expensive. For example, below is an old listing for a used Xtrac unit. So I would guess that the one used in the Viper ALMS car cost in the vicinity of 50K. I doubt we will see such a tranny offered, even as an option, in the street car.

The price would be significantly less I think. First, they would "dumb" it down a little. Second, the cost would be spread across 200-300 units. It might not be that out of the question. However, if a transmission like this surfaces, you can rest assured it will probably be shared with Ferrari.
