23 years or so ago, Chrysler President Bob Lutz was gazing at his Autocraft Cobra and wondering why his company, then known in large part for K cars, could not build something utterly off the wall and similar to his Cobra.
He convinced Lee Iacocca to give him a modest budget and 33 months later he produced the car we have come to know and love.
Maximum Bob turned 80 on February 12. I still keep in touch, and he is busier than any 3 people I know. He continues to consult with GM and Lotus. He appears often on TV and on the lecture circuit. The former Marine can still wheel a car pretty well, too. (and fly a helicoptor)
Happy birthday, Bob.
