Hard to run in the 11\'s with a viper?

I know the the srt-10 viper is rated at 11.77 for quarter mile stock. I was wondering in terms of 60ft and what not of it is hard to run in the 11s for your first time with the viper at the track. I used to have a 978 hp supra and a hayabusa(i know not the same) so im not completely novice to high hp/tq cars. I am getting some wheels and drs for the track but i meant in terms of running in the 11s with runflats. I also have a full belanger exhaust system from header back. I have found the best launching on the street to be from 2500-2800 slipping the clutch and giving the correct gas ratio until its moving then wot. Please give me feed back, thanks

"for the first time"?

That's a tough question to answer. 11's are definitely do-able in any SRT. Temperature, track conditions, and of course, the driver will determine the outcome of the first run.

My guess is, since your a "seasoned" driver, you'll hit 12.0 or better.

I ran 11.96 with a 1.99 60 ft. the first and only run i ever made. I drove the car in off the highway, went through tech and ran it. I think there is some left, because i lost traction a bit early as well as cooling the car off. The car is also just broken in at 1000 miles. I have done alot of drag racing over the years so im not an empty chair. Eagle

Re: Hard to run in the 11\'s with a viper?

Getting into the 11's is very track/prep dependent. On a slick track, it is almost impossible. With VHT applied liberally, it is much, much easier.

Launching even a little lower, maybe 1800-2000 might give just the right amount of slight wheel spin. Others launch almost at idle.

Remember that many 03's are now running on 3 year old tires. OEM tires are stickiest when new. Get harder as they age.

Don't reduce tire pressure on run flats. It will just make them hollow, and only run on the rims. Little extra pressure often gives a flat profile, getting the most rubber on the road.

Launched at 2000-2300 and slipped clutch very quickly, it came out great the first 20-30 feet then spun a little. I think there is definately a 1.85 60' in the cards on run flats JMO. Eagle

My only run in my runflat Viper (and only run in any car ever) was a 12.5 @116 with a poor 2.1 60'. Only mod is K&N and catback.

altitude is one of the biggest factors that needs to be figured

I ran 12.2 my first and only time at the track so far. Street tires with a 2.0 60 ft time. Not sure if I could break into 11's without drag radials, but I understand that smaller diameter wheels don't fit on the SRT-10...

Bone stock 03, no filters nothing....

Ran 12.09@117 with a 1.97 60'
also 12.09@120 with a 2.04 60'
and my 3rd run was
12.17@118 with a 2.01 60'

Temp was 77 with high humidity and the car was always at operating temps, i never let it cool down. Now that I think about it the first 2 runs were back to back and the 3rd run was about 15 minutes later.
Can't remember what r's I was launching at but i do know i had wheel hop every time----------I HATE WHEEL_HOP and this car will not get rid of it!!!!!!!!!
anyways those times are with the run-flats at 29 psi.
