I'm going to remove my cats here soon, but I was wondering...has anyone fabercated a trim plate that went around the opening of the exhaust exit to prevent burning of the rear fascia?

Also my tips are almost flush with the exit opening of the rear fascia..I get a lot of soot...if I move my tips out further...will that help on the soot from building up on the rear of the car?

I've never see a surround plate for the outlets, just a cover plate that someone made after they relocated the exhaust to the sides.

I have a '97 with custom tips on my Borla system, and they probably extend an extra inch and a half, I've never had any spotting at all on the rear end paint. Good Luck

Check with Zero Altitude Flight at 203-469-4202. They have an exhaust tip which they report reduces this problem. The note they sent me with their brochure says this was mentioned to them by Jon Brobst VCA Pres PAC Northwest. You might look into this. I hope it works let us know.

Funny you mention this now. I was thinking about adding exactly the same thing. Running catless and dont want excess heat/flames to ruin rear bumper near exhaust exit. Have seen heat shield I think on Hennessey Venoms but it couldnt be too hard to have made up at metal shop. Kept fairly small it would look tough too. Maybe 5" x 8" or something like that. If you hear about one already premade let me know.

I bought the Zero Altitude Flight exhaust megaphones. The only problem is, it would not fit on my Borla exhaust tips so I had to send it back. Also, it looked kind of cheap and cheesy. The have a billet one that looks great for like $1,000 but I thought that was a little too expensive. So, I continue to get soot deposited on my rear bumper every time I drive it.

Hennessey puts a nice looking brushed aluminum or stainless plate around the tips for the Venom Aero rear diffuser. I think I have a photo somewhere that I can upload later.

Yep, found it...
