Have the discussions on the VCA site gone to hell?

For those wanting tuning capability help is on the way. Spoke to a local tuner that seems to have something pretty great in the pipeline. Should work on gen IV and V. Doing some discovery before. Maybe similiar to AEM, but with far greater capabilities.

I think one the main problems with the forum is its size. Take a
look at the forum home page - there are 83 different catagories.
Stopping in an looking over them all, combined with checking your
messages and classifieds (which I have always opposed not being
part of the forums) means spending HOURS on the boards. Thats
something the average owner doesnt have.

I think one of the reasons the old board worked so well was because
Gen2 owners were forced to play with Gen1 owners. Agreed, it lead
to disasters, but it also meant that EVERYONE was playing the same
game. Personally I don't even visit the Gen3-4, technical, and racing
forums because they do not interest me. That being said there are
many friends here I haven't spoken to in YEARS simply because they
don't have time to come visit my forums either.

Spreading the forums so thin has allowed a segregation of generations
to occur that not only alienates us from one another, AND make it
impossible for our tech gurus to find us individually, but it has allowed
the trolls to become that much more noticable.

As several of you guys mention, I often wonder why some guys behave so badly on the interent when compared to how they behave face to face. Just doesn't make sense to me, but it seems to be spreading everywhere these days. That may be part of the reason I'm not on this fourm as much I as I have been in prior years.

The good thing as Paul says above is that the "pendulum" seems to swing from "conservative to liberal" leaning, from "agressive to passive" from "good economy" to "bad economy", and so on.

Hopefully, things will swing back to better times ......

Agreed 100%. I only check 5-6 subforums and ignore the rest.

There are a handful of other forums I am on that have it spread out like this, its annoying as hell.

Facebook and Twitter have taken people away from the forums I've no idea exactly what twitter is

I do find that if you post on your regional thread, many times the posts go unnoticed So if you then post the same thread in a more popular area you finally get some replies.

I find it frustrating sometimes when you go to the trouble of posting things up including pics, you then get something like 200 views but only 2 replies!

The Gen V board seems busy but there is a lot of same old, same old, as people have noticed!

I don't understand the enthusiasts title, particularly from new owners, do you now not get a 1 year free membership to the VCA? Did SRT stop that?

I didn't get anything for free but everything I did get was reasonable. Also very impressed with the VCA, organization and the brand in general. The whole regional thing, the magazine, the emails and warm welcome were impressive and something I hadn't felt from other brands before.

Having said that I do thing that some, not all, prior gen guys resent newbie's in general. I found it odd to see some of these folks bad mouthing the new generation model on a viper forum in posts and I get a vibe that the direction SRT is focusing on for new breed owners insults and offends them, makes them feel their years of loyalty are moot and overlooked. If folks feel that way its unfortunate because I really think they tried to please everyone with the gen V. The base SRT for the gear heads and the cushy GTS for the new *******; seems like they tried to please everyone? Plus I'm sure the gearheads will love the new generation ACR while guys like me will trade in their V coupe for the vert when its available, and that's ok.

Its also interesting how the vast majority of orders on the new gen were GTS models, not SRT models. Hmmm...People fear change in general and that's to be expected with anything in life. But I suspect there's more change to come. For example, I think these manual tranny's years are numbered....flappy paddles are a comin'. I think the competition between brands has never been stiffer so expect more performance vehicles with higher price points. I'd expect to see doctors, lawyers and businessmen putting in orders that traditionally gear head mechanics did; there's a growing breed of yuppie racing emerging. Some other change I've noticed very recently: formerly at supercar rallies the women would be passengers or models at the events. Now I've actually seen female enthusiasts and even a female owner pull up to the last event I attended in a Ferrari. But ultimately if they are all car guys(or gals) deep down, who cares? My .02

You guys that don't want to peek into all the subforums, I shall teach you the easy way. Just hit the "New Posts" link at the top left of the screen. It will pull up all the newest posts, from each forum. I can quickly scan through them with my scroll wheel and look only at the ones that seem interesting. This is the best way to navigate most forums now, due to most forums having too many actual forums. Here is a link, give it a try.

Provided a real world solution to the Enthusiasts problem. Fought hard for a few months on it without even return calls or proper consideration. Elitist attitude of some are what killed it on arrival. Sorry but vast majority of issues could have been resolved with action. I am sure this situation is like an onion with layers. As an X-Files fan, the truth is out there.

Everyone sees it and everyone bounces around the real issues:

1. Club is not the same as it was in the past. Values, and purpose are clearly different and you wonder why, just look at current structure focus and well just look up!

2. Car Gens are clearly very different, have their fans and detractors but $ difference is a lot of the issue. Sorry but someone who is justifying and purchasing a $150k car versus a new VCA member who saved up enough to pay $30k for a used Gen I are too totally different demography. Two totally different people with views on life.

3. Allowing the infiltration of brand killing trolls to run wild as it has left such a bad taste for anyone here and new to forum. That is a lot of it.

4. Young, middle age, old has nothing to do with it. There is no heart and soul left reappears to not be. Core of founding support has been shunned and walked out. No more Grailkeeper, no more Ralph close info and posts. Riffs appear to be there from outside looking in. Sorry but something has gone awry.......I have no clue what but it is different.

5. Just not as fun as the past and now more like the bs in other car clubs which is why I stayed away from car clubs in the past. Want to fix it, go back to the way the club functioned, the values and purpose it had.

Don't like to spend as much time here as in the past and I admit, I sometimes get negative in posts, but mainly to try to defend against the Trolls Gine Wild. All for open speech but talk about in appropriate directions with the other brand loving, viper bashing posts, etc.

Until the issues are dealt with head on and everything brought into the open, nothing will change. That is for anything in life. Go back in time see where it changed and why, then you will know how to correct it. People care but until the people get together to really discuss how it can be fixed, how can it be fixed?

I didn't think he sounded condescending or hateful at all in item #2. He's just making a statment that there are different demographics on here. Some of us have more money than others. Some of us can afford multiple Vipers, and some barely own theirs. We're all here for the same thing, but we all have different ways of getting here. We're all in the storming phase, eventually we'll all normalize as things settle and we get a feel for the new owners. We're not here to push anyone away. If you have a disagreement with someone you don't push a ban on them. No offense bud, but ColoViper has been a supporting member of this site since 2006. This isn't an"out with the old" situation. From a lot of your posts it really sounds like you are trolling in all honesty. I wouldn't consider somone that has 1700 posts over 7 years of confirmed membership/ownership a troll. It's been mentioned by a few people, but the club changing is driving the site changes.
There are a lot of "enthusiasts" now who post a lot less, or not at all, because of the way things have changed around here. A lot of the technical help and knowledgeable people / vendors, have either been banned or grown tired of secret banning (moderated status), and left on their own.
