Well that is what the initial sound was like, a BANG followed by CLANK CLANK CLANK...then silence for a few miles. Then this rasping, rubbbing, BRANG BRANG sound.

Ug, I really need to get a sound clip. Unfortunately I am 30 miles away from the car. I'm hoping to get a sound clip Thursday.

A broken cat sounds like someone shaking a metal box full of rocks.

An internally broken cat should be easy to diagnose. Get the car up on jack stands and tap on the cat with your hand. You'll hear anything loose inside rattling around.

All,

Thanks again for all your offers for help. I'm probably going to make a few new friends before this ordeal is over. It's woderful how this community reacts and supports fellow enthusiasts.

I will try my best to get a sound/video file of the noise tomorrow so that you guys can further diagnose. I think the only option I have at this time is to jack the car up and see if anything is visibly wrong. Then it is off to a local Dodge dealer. Thankfully I have been pointed towards a good Viper Tech at a near by dealership.

Warm Regards
