Help for "Low Riders"

I like the looks of a lowered Viper. Problem is, they aren't very street friendly. Scraping the front end on speed bumps etc....

I might have found one solution......

Problem is, my preliminary research is turning up a $6-9K price tag...

Guess what happened when we were in Italy in May with 2 Viper and 1 Ferrari 430 NoviTec with a hydraulic lift system? The hydraulic system broke...big trouble and oil everywhere. Fine, it is a nice but complex feature/system! And the Ferrari dealership (main dealership in MODENA, very close to the factory in Maranello) cannot fix it!

Penske made them for the Gallardo and Eric from Penske told me last summer they were working on them for the Viper. Not sure what stage they are in now, but give them a call. Underground sells Penske stuff.

Im at that same height you are and would love to put that on the fronts but im am worried about them not lasting and also the price. Let us know if you find any info on a setup. Car looks hot btw!

It's a perfect cure to part of the problem. But it doesn't help at speed on most highways (in my area) when you encounter a road "dip" or road asphalt patch. You had better make sure to check your rear view before you stop to "inflate" too.

Sorry for the negativity. I SOOOO much want to lower my car and get frustrated with these ingenious accessories. For what it does, it's perfect.

WOW...that's slammed. I have not dropped my GTS and have to back my ACR with track alignment into the driveway with wood boards to clear the neighborhood curb they call a driveway entrance. Even talked to a concrete guy about 'modding' the driveway....against HOA rules.

Looks like a good solution but damn $$$$. I'll keep my 4X4 GTS and wood boards thank you!

Is that the same KW that makes the stock shocks for the ACR?

I drove a Murcilago that had that system. Came in handy for driveways and speed bumps.

I've noticed that some of the Vette guys have frame rollers to help from scraping. Is this an option for the Vipers?

One of the biggest problems I've run into isn't just getting up steep driveways, it's massive speed bumps that you can't take at an angle (since you'll high center in the middle of the car) but can't get around any other way.

I think so, but the ACR uses the KW3 : adjustable in height, damping and rebound.
I recently got the KW2 installed on my 08 and really like it.
Adjustable in 1 1/2" height, and 18 firmness settings (never remember if it's rebound or damping). I set the firmness at the recommended # 9 mid-setting and dropped the height all the way down. Perfect for me, rides nice, handles great and does not hit on bumps any different then when I had the stock suspension with just the lower spring caps installed at about 1" higher then now.

the srt10's done scrape nearly as much as the gen2's..My 99 rt10 was stock height and scraped a lot..my srt10 is lowered an inch on eibachs and never scrapes

One of the previous owners lowered my 03 with Aldens, and I have scraped a couple times. So did the previous owner - front fascia is pretty scarred, but I'm debating fixing, as it will probably just get scarred up again.

So the price has dropped from the KWs on my 2000 ACR??? I was told that the Konis are worth as much as $3800. Add taxes, shipping, etc. ...

These hydraulic adjustables seem a better way to go as compared to jacking up the car and spinning the height rings by hand on each corner. Obviously your car would never be corner balanced though.

If these shocks work as good as the ACR shocks then the 2012 could have them installed (unless there's too many disadvantages to using them - such as unbalanced corner weights). I'd assume that Dodge would have had them invented for the car - if they felt it was a viable option. You could ask the SRT engineers that come to VOI 11 this fall why they didn't come on the ACR?

That pnuematic component - don't know how rugged it is to prevent leaks. That's a weak point that is of concern.
