Speak of the devil. While on my way home about a half hour ago, I saw what looked like a brand new Vette sitting idle in the middle of a three lane road with heavy traffic. I drove by in the opposite direction and saw the stressed out driver running his hands through his hair while sitting in the driver seat. I couldn't help but wonder what stupid electrical failure caused the car to shut down. Either that or he just ran out of gas. He wasn't even trying to get it going again, so it couldn't have just stalled out.

maybe its just me but throughout the years seems like GM has always had electrical failures. personally i own two GM vehicles....BOTH had electrical issues but im an electrician so its nothing to me. i kinda like it because i prey on vehicles like this because theyre dirt cheap easy fixes for me. 99% of mechanics can turn a bolt but have no clue when it comes to wires.

It's nice to own nice things but you need to be familiar with what your operating. What if he wrecked the car and had to get out in a hurry and still didn't know where the emergency release was? Glad he sold it because its technology is far too advanced for him.

Nothing wrong with GM, it is his brain that was messed up!!

Same thing happened to my Viper check it out:

Did I blame Dodge? Did I sell my car because I was stranded until friends brought me a battery? haha

All I wanted was a few tacos... :(

I'm not sure Dodge has a much better record. I've had electrical problems with my Dakota since the day I bought it. And Vipers are famous for ignition off battery drain.

He should have sat there and read the owners manual. There is a manual release between the track and the door. IDIOT. Too stupid to own such a nice car anyway.

Yeah, my buddy did the saem thing in his Z06. Battery was weak, and he did not know there was a manual release!! bahahahhaha

He ended up crawling out of the back I do believe.

BEST PART is, the previous owner ran a shop, and custom programmed the dash display to read "You Roach" if the car was being stolen lmao!!!

I wonder if all GTS owners know where the manual door release inside is. Especially those who own 14 cars.

If I hadn't had to fix my door problems about 3 or 4 times, I would feel a little better about Dodge's design prowess. I would have liked something more in keeping with the "keep it simple" philosophy used on most of the rest of my Viper.

This should be a story about knuckleheads. Just because you can afford 14 cars doesn't mean your qualified to drive them. He sold his car the same day and is afraid to drive it. Uh.......hmmmmmm, one word comes to mind, What a "Pssuy" (think cat) OMG! The cop must have been laughing his ass off, watching some butterball porker trying to make his way to the hatch.

For those who call him a knucklehead, I pose one question...

He has 14 cars. Must be doing something right. If you don't have 14 cars, maybe you should re-evaluate your position on his stupidity. He did not know about the release? Neither did the dealer who sells the thing.

I never said he wasn't doing something right in his life. On the otherhand, a guy who buys exotics and then has a small glitch and needs to call the Police is in my opinion a KNUCKLEHEAD. He is actually afraid of his own vehicle, and told his Ferrari chat buddies that he will never buy another car with automatic locking doors.:lame:

Can't wait to hear his next (think cat) story on the net.

Patent, you have to remember that internet forums are a great place for people to put themselves in position to pass judgement on others. It makes one feel good to put down strangers based on some entertainment news story. It's what people do. Gossip at work gossip, on the internet. It's just more surprising to listen to what are assumed to be masculine guys with Vipers putting down fellow car guys for a screw up. And belittle them for not wanting to own a Corvette because of stupid uneeded useless automatic features.

I shouldn't laugh too hard at this. My bro-in-law and I were changing the battery on my vert last weekend and got locked out of the car for like 30 minutes when, unknown to us, the cars security system kicked in when we changed the battery and the only way to deactivate it was to put the key in the ignition. I knew about the key hole under the door, but when I tried to use it, I thought the key was going to break off.

With the right leverage, all was good and we got in the car. Still, I shouldn't laugh too hard at the ZR1 owner. Still HAD a nice car.

I have always had a dislike with the automatic door lock systems in cars.

Anyway, the funniest part of the article was this quote:

"According to his posts, Adams will fill his empty spot with another GM sports car — namely a high-end Camaro."

Never heard of a "high-end" Camaro? :D

The guy buys a ZR1, owns it for 3 days, hasn't studied the owners manual yet, get's locked in by a dumb-ass nanny system, gets ********** and sells the car and buys a Viper instead.

Yeah, what an idiot..

Yes, he is an idiot. The manual release is a safety option to SAVE YOUR LIFE! If you are too stupid to do a good walk around your vehicle and scan the owners manual then you do not deserve to own the vehicle. It is a safety issue that he did not know how find to get out of the car and if he had gotten in a bad accident guess what, he would still be in there. I don't care how much money he makes or how many vehicles he has. Know what safety features your vehicle has or don't drive it! For those of you up in arms about this you need to think out of the box just a little bit. Yes its comical in the way he got stuck but in reality most folks get stuck after accident. Now get the ******* out of a bunch and stop getting butthurt about people marking the fact that hes an idiot.

As far as the dealer not knowing about it who knows who he talked to. He could have talked to a lot attendant or someone who is new there. And lets be real, most people are more familiar with their vehicle then most dealers.

I love all sports cars so sure I fall under that category. I have no problems with the Corvette except for the amount of different models they have and that they all look the same regardless of the 45k or the 120k price tag. The changes are too subtle.

Nice attempt to insult me be the mere fact that your stuck in your little box and can't see the fact behind the guy being uneducated about his purchase clearly shows you would be right at home in said vehicle (don't forget to read the manual though).

:smirk: I thought that the thread had turned into a thread about insulting fellow car guys and Viper owners !! That was the best that I could come up with. I've never claimed to be very clever !

It started out as one of those, "make fun of GM's making the Vette way more complicated than a Viper" threads and has turned into something a bit different; but, still entertaining. :2tu:

Sorry I hurt some peoples feelings here, but based on this stupid embarrasing non story. The story as we know it.

Guy can't get out of his car, so he calls 911
Guy tells the world what an aweful car GM has made
Guy won't even get near the car
Guy tells his "Ferrrari Chat" buddies that he'll never buy another car with auto locks
Guy replaces car with another GM product that has auto door locks!

If he's smart, then I'm happy to be a dummy.

You can be book smart/business smart and still lack common sense. I see it all the time.
