Wow, I didn't hear that particular account. I heard that some called home and said they were going to do something about it, however, to get "intelligence" about the other flights would have been incredible!

Those passengers are THE heroes of this mess!

I heard on a radio talk show that no matter what, if hi-jackers took over a plane, the passengers would probably "mutiny" no matter what they said because of what has happened.

Even if the hi-jackers confiscated the cell phones, I think the passengers would most likely act.

However, I was on a flight to Puerto Rica that was essentially fully booked by this old age home. I never saw so many old people on a plane in my life....

I've been feeling the same way since last night. I think it's obvious based upon that phone call, and what happened to the airplane, that the passengers and crew of that flight were truly heroes. Before too long, I hope they are publicly acknowledged as such and long remembered for the lives saved and destruction prevented.

While I find it hard to understand how people muster that kind of courage, I think we all might do the same given the situation. You are going to die anyway, so why not die in a way that saves others vs. cowering?

I wonder what the target was. It makes me even more sad to think about how much worse yesterday could have been.

BTW, I was in the Pentagon on Monday afternoon. 17 hours later corridor 4 ceased to exist. Kind of makes you stop an think....

That was the best thing they could have done...I would have done the same thing. Amen to those people and families....

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Don't know why this popped into my head ... I'm not even religious, but I do know where it came from and it's as true as it is timeless.

I believe the U.S. Congress bestows the medal of honor on military personnel who commit such acts of selfless heroism.
