“@RalphGilles: “@Kenric10: have you thought about forced induction on Gen 5?” let's just say we made it a perfect canvas ; )”

Bolt on from Mopar, ;)

He said they forged the pistons on the Gen V for a reason- to make it mod-friendly. That 512 CID V10 is mildly stressed, and could put out monstrous power with forced induction, without breaking a sweat. Not that I would, I recently sold a supercharged Camaro and it was fun. But I am keeping an open mind to the future.

I wonder if an ACR with a dry sump could have the engine sit low enough for a roots style blower to clear and still keep the x-brace?

Would look cool as long as the blower isn't covered by plastic.....

I caught that. I have a feeling in the coming few years with the new Tier emissions laws, all forms of forced induction will be returning to vehicles. Especially for power. Rumors of a supercharger Hemi for production is also getting stronger again.....

I'm skeptical ,especially with all the things that was said before. I've got to see it to believe it now..

Great ! In the second video Ralph says that they will bring back 3 cars to LS with the mags people and have their own Domenic drive it against Randy Pobst.
Also mentionned that they will go back to Nurburgring in the Spring
Then he said both ACR and convertible will come in about 2 years
Lots of good news and faith in the Gen V !

A lot of info straight from Ralph's mouth in that 2nd video. Although I agree with bushido that I have to see it to believe it, I'm encouraged. Ralph also said that, with the right driver, the Viper is faster than the ZR1 at any track. The Viper is not as easy to drive at its limits, but its limits are higher than the ZR1's. I hope this true. I still think we need at very least a tire swap, I wish Michellin made the Pilot Sport Cups in the Gen V size. We shall see how Domenic does, this has turned into quite a rivalry.

We need to be thankful the ZR1 exists... just as Chevy is thankful the Viper exists.

I like Ralphs passion and determination. He is as open as he can be, and gives us just enough to keep us guessing and wondering. He is not gonna just lay down and take this crap, good for him.

Another tidbit that did not make it onto the video. There was a brief Q&A after Ralph's remarks. The new ACR will produce 1500 pounds of down force instead of 1000. I would not expect a MOPAR supercharger kit for the Gen V. Among other issues are what to do with the X brace. The car can run in a straight line without it but would not do as well on a road course. Perhaps someone will fabricate a square brace. If I had to bet on it, I would guess that Arrington and Arrow must be at least thinking about a supercharger kit by now. Arrington now has supercharger kits for the 392 SRT8 engine that utilize somewhat recalibrated 6.1 liter engine controllers. Pretty clever of them to figure that out. But a controller for the Gen V engine, even with open code, will require a very high skill set to recalibrate to allow a supercharger kit on the Gen V motor. It will happen but not quickly.

You could offer a special hood with enough clearance for a supercharger and a different x-brace, and the style wizards at SRT could make the hood look downright sinister. The x-brace may not be as ideal of a shape as the existing one, but it could be carbon fiber to avoid a weight penalty and to match its current stiffness.

Big cube engines like the Viper can make gobs of power when supercharged, without undue stress. Supercharger cams reduce overlap to maintain cylinder pressure, and as a result can be very emissions-friendly. We could see a supercharged ACR that could take anything on the planet, and it really wouldn't be that hard to engineer. The challenges would include enough cooling to avoid heat soak, and beefing up the rest of the drivetrain to handle the added torque. That would maimtain the Viper's legendary supercar status. Although I prefer normally aspirated, a supercharger may be a good tradeoff to take on anything a C7 Corvette could throw at it.

Maybe all we need in an ACR are better brakes, tires, downforce and suspension tuning, but a supercharger could pay big dividends and keep the Viper as King of the Ring for years to come.

it would not surprise me if ralph has something up his sleeve like boost.

Plum, didn't I say this in another post!!! I must have a crystal ball!!! LOL. The X Brace and the Hood design will be easy to work w/a Roots type SC. It's perfect for a good washing machine!!!
Drop that compression, strengthen the chassis in other areas and PUT IT ON!!!! YES!!!! :headbang:

That last video is very encouraging. I cant wait for the LS retest, the Ring run and the ACR. I had mentioned they should do a retest with Farbacher driving the same day of the MT article posted here. Im glad SRT will follow through with this. Of course if they do take the record back you will have doubters as to whether the car is bonestock non ringer etc....Definitely looking forward for the main event, Viper vs LS and ZR1 record. But I like the undercard of Farnbacher vs Pobst too. Yeah different day/conditions etc but still will be a good conversation piece.

If the Viper, on those same Corsa's and brakes the articles complained about, is faster than the ZR1 in the hands of Farnbacher that will be something indeed. Looks like SRT might be serving some Crow soon. I like mine well done. What they could do is have that record setting ZR1 available that day and let Farnbacher drive it too so the test would be less disputed over. Nevertheless, its just words until the deed is done. Ralphs confidence can be infectious but we shall see.

If they do put a supercharger on the Viper it will definitely be a centrifugal. You can keep the X brace and find a simpler solution for mounting and cooling. Using a roots style would be like trying to stuff 10 lbs of crap into a 5 lb bag.

That would work too, but a roots has the advantage of a broader, low-end torque band. Agreed that the centrifugal may package better under hood, but my Vortech was sure hard to shoe-horn in my Camaro. I'd be happy with either solution

Look at my signature. I am familiar with the benefits of supercharging. What you propose is interesting but unlikely. I believe that as long as the Viper has a V10, SRT will leave it up to the gifted after market people to develop power adders based on boost and the attendant required calibration allowing same for the Gen V engine. That is also why I think that Arrow and Arrington will step up to the plate. They have the requisite skill sets and equipment to do so in house.

Hope Ralph is taking the C7 seriously. Gossip among the gears is that the new ZR1, which won't be here for a few years yet, will have a different chassis entirely from the standard C7...no details but that it should put everyone on notice, including the top end F cars and ACR.

I hope the ACR is shooting for world dominance, because the C7 ZR1 will be for sure.

Since GM went with the Eaton for the ZR1,ZL1, and CTSV;and, it is alleged that the long rumored 6.2 liter supercharged SRT 8 engine under developemnt also has an Eaton type supercharger, I do not think a centrigugal supercharger, as much as I like them, will find its way onto a Gen V except if it is installed after production. Perhaps, given the time, Paxton will come up with something that is as reliable as the Gen III kit was. But the calibration issues are far more complex even with an open code OEM controller that is rumored to become available from Mopar sometime this Spring.

I've heard about the Supercharger option from good source's . And it will be a better option than the Eaton Unit ! ;) :2tu:

How come he isn't addressing the brakes? Literally every test has complained about them.

How many people will need more than the brakes will offer? Those that will, will know how to upgrade them.

Chrysler rates the 60-0 at 103 feet. Motor Trend bettered it stating it was 93 feet. Car and driver, 70-0 in 146 feet.

Beating the all mighty GT-R 60-0 per Motor Trend of 101 feet.
