Hope the 2008 Viper is mod friendly like Chevy's LS3...

The '08 VVT heads will out-flow the LS3 heads (better than the Stryker heads, stock), and once the '08 PCM is cracked, the dyno numbers/liter will trump any Chevy numbers. Stock, the '08 rw numbers surmount the LS3 custom tune numbers, and like any OEM tune, there's plenty left on the table with the 8.4 factory tune. "A few mods" (intake/exhaust manifolds) and the Viper's 8.4 NA engine can't be touched, unless someone is boosting well into the double digits.

I seriously doubt that the '08 Viper heads outflow Stryker heads. What are you basing this statement on?

Until the '08 castings can be independently bench flowed, its speculation, but at a recent SoCal DC Performance outing a couple weeks ago, I heard from two different knowledgeable sources that the new heads are a tad better than Stryker heads. The Gen IV heads do flow about 60 cfm over the Gen III heads.

Forget the ls-3 heads, what about the ls-7 and beyond. Tuning that new motor is not going to be easy, and by that time the SS, Bluedevil or whatever it's called will be out. At that point, I'd say all bets are off. As far as the Stryker heads, I just had my car dyno'd today and yes they do make power. It'll be interesting to see what the reliability of that mechanical VVT is in the real world. I can't even imagine taking that thing into your average Dodge dealer.

Yes, the word (from very reliable sources) is that the new cnc heads on the 2008 Viper have a more effective valve angle and will out flow and out perform the current Stryker heads, not by a ton, but they will outflow them.

I would doubt that any of us with Gen III cars who tried the Strykers and the 2008 heads "back to back" could tell the difference unless we made some hefty mods.

Mods like increasing the compression ratio, porting our intake manifolds, porting our throttle bodies, adding headers and changing the cam and lifters would be necessary to really use the airflow capacity of the 2008 heads on a Gen III. It could be done, but it would likely be cheaper to just sell the 06 and buy an 08.
