Warfang: PLEEEEEEEASE don't compare newborns to cars...even if they ARE our precious VIPERS...no, they're not human~! DUDE! ~juli
Well said, but when are we gonna play some tennis?
No one has called you a ***** yet, although you did seem to self incriminate with that term there briefly.
*****.
Body shop guy will be comming tomorrow to take a look at the car, I really doubth that there is any frame damage, but will never know until we put the car on the lift.I hope you are able to keep you friendship intact. Terrible situation to be in, for both of you. It's one thing to be hit by a complete stranger.
CarFax is too if'y. Some shops report & some don't. I think if you talk to the shop and let them know the repair is "cash" and not an insurance claim - meaning you write the body shop the check and handle the claim and money part with your insurance company (submit the estimates and negotiate with the body shops - don't let the body shop & insuarnce talk) then it will most likely keep your CarFax clean. You will also notice they will treat you much better as a cash customer than one with an insurance company in the middle. I usually get the front clip on our daily drivers repainted every 18 months or so because of all the rocks on the roads down here - all out of pocket a voluntary. Funny thing is the body shop I use does work that makes the factory paint look cheap. If there is not any "structural/frame" damage then reapir it. Twisted frames are a different situation & unless your sitting on a very rare Viper then you're probably better upgrading to a Gen 4 (if the frame is tweaked)
If it truely is your "baby" then keep her, patch her up and enjoy her as you always have. Don't be scared of repaired cars. If your Viper was 50 years old it would be called "restored" and worth 10 times as much! Think about that next time you see a $100k muscle care from the `60's. In order for it to be a $100k car it is either preserved in the Smithsonean or has been "rotesseried".
Good luck!
I have to agree but I was going to wait until after the grieving.
Hm, that is the thing, the guy is willing to claim his insurance if he does that why would I need to claim my insurance?

Most people don't realize that if you allow someone else to drive your vehicle, it is still your insurance that covers it. Even if he files with his insurance company, they will defer it to your insurance company to handle. I believe if you say the vehicle was driven without your knowledge (i.e. stolen) it's different. Something to chew on for people that let others drive their car
My insurance covers it even if my 15-year takes the car out and totals it.[/QUOTE
Then you obviously have a good policy, but I certainly wouldn't test that theory.
I'm just sharing my experience in regards to this situation.

I have Farmer's. My agent and insurance company, bent over backwards to take care of me in the past when my Prowler was total'd.My insurance covers it even if my 15-year takes the car out and totals it.[/QUOTE

I could be wrong, but I think a lot of it depends on your agent, and how they write the policy.

I agree with you 100%. My only point was......technically....they don't have too. I for one have an agent, much like you, that will bend over backwards to help.
I'm with Allstate, same agent for 30-years.
Even though the policy on both of our sport cars says no driver under 25, my agent said they would pay the claim. And no my 15-year old who does have a permit, doesn't drive either one.
