I would like to thank everyone for coming out to what was just an awesome event. The big # was 103 people and 45-50 Vipers!!!!and 12 Prowlers!. I would like to also thank John Hennessey and Roy Terpstra for showing their generosity again in donating big prizes to our club. I can’t tell you how lucky we are to have those two guy’s right here in Houston. Now the bad news: it seems that a few of our club members (4) got thrown in the slammer last night for ….get this…..DRIVING TO SLOW? It seems that the cops were convinced that they (we) were trying to slow traffic down to make a large gap of open road for us to race. No racing took place only cops yelling at them for driving to slow. However they were nice enough to let the passengers take the cars home except for 1 Viper owner who was driving solo and he had his car towed off by one of those old school fat belt towers…OUCH! That is going to cause damage for sure. I will be posting pictures when they become available (Meeting and mug shots). Thanks again

Why were they really driving to slow. . .sounds strange to me! There has got to be more to this story. You don't get thrown in the slammer for this, maybe a ticket but JAIL, I don't think so. Sounds like you did a great event. I just wish we had these numbers on our Rendezvous'.

Sounds like this event turned out to be a grand old time. Four members incarcerated for the night, and one car damaged by the police when it was impounded. Wish I could've been there!

Hey, Doug Dye, if you're following this thread, how come we in SoCal never have events where our members are jailed? I'm jealous of these Texas events....

Yeah, for sure, let's sign Prashant up as national social chairman, so we can all join in the fun!

Seriously, guys, this police business sounds out of control. I hope the owner whose car was messed up can successfully sue the police for damages. Also, I am at a loss to understand why "going too slow" is an arrestable offense. Sorry this happened, guys!

Thank you guys for all the kind words. Gary I think the cops were trying to impose a “impeding traffic” charge on the guys.

Jason and Albert checked in at the Greybar Hotel? What some guys won't do for a cavity search. And to think everybody gives me a hard time when I tell them to bring bail money to these events. Can't leave you guys alone for a minute. Sorry guys but that's too funny! If it had been a female cop Fontenot would have walked but Albert getting a ticket for impeeding traffic, now I've heard it all...

Man, I can't believe I chumped out on this event! Sounds like a blast! Instead, I played a bunch of golf with several pros in town for our Buy.Com tour event, the Permian Basin Open. You can bet I won't miss the drag event or the TWS event coming up.

Even though I'm in the N.Texas Chapter I know Prashant, Jason, John Nicholas, Jeff and several of the Houston guys and it seems a shame to miss any event within a days drive of here, especially if Prashant is putting it on and there are Babes involved.

12 hours in the slammer for doing 45 on the Beltway?? Geez, if Houston's finest treated everyone equally the jails would be plumb full of blue hairs. Hope you guys can do the lawyer routine and beat the rap. It would probably be too much to hope for justice (i.e. police reprimands or towing damages) in Houston, but we're pulling for you. At least you didn't end up floating in the bayou while still wearing handcuffs. Sometimes it's embarassing to live in Houston.

Don, looking forward to seeing you at TWS!! I'm going to go ahead and register, and trust I'll have my car back by then....

JEZ,I LEAVE TOWN FOR A WEEK AND MISS ALL THE ACTION! F.Y.I. THE POLICE WERE NOT HOUSTON POLICE....THEY WERE CONSTABLES THAT PATROL THE BELTWAYS FOR TRAFFIC ENFORCEMEMT.IN HILLBILLY COUNTRY WE HAVE REAL POLICE OFFICERS- HOUSTON,HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTIES,AND THEN CONSTABLES .THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN HARRIS COUNTY TEXAS HAVE THE DISRECTION TO WARN,WRITE A TICKET,OR ARREST ON TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS.IT IS HIGHLY UNUSUAL THAT A PROFESSIONAL OFFICER WOULD CHOOSE TO ARREST A CITIZEN ON IMPEDING THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND OR NOT HAVING CURRENT PROOF OF INSURANCE.MEMO TO JOHN N THE BAYOU THING ENDED IN THE LATE 70 S WHEN THEY STATED HIRING FOLKS FROM OUT OF STATE.REGARDS! for a great evening and morning and afternoon of fun. Next time Prashant maybe you could just schedule our next meeting at the Jail for us and it would save the drive and we would spend less time in cuffs. It was a hard deal to believe that's for sure. We were all yes sir... no sir and next thing you know we are cuffed and en-route. With a little luck maybe these wanna be cops can get hired doing secuirity an Sonic or something. We did have a couple of decent sherrifs inside the "joint" that helped a little.

Hey Norm, always good to have commentary form the Houston smack contingent. Perhaps my meaning wasn't very clear, but I was referring more to life in general in this area than to the specific events of last night (which I don't know the details of). Despite your commentary to things ending in the '70's, I can offer only a couple of points.

1) Do you suppose the following dead people though it ended in the '70's; the guy that got 11 shots in the back from police after they broke into his apartment looking for his drug dealer brother; the guy who got ±50 rounds put into his truck after crashing because he ran from a traffic stop, the suicidal motorcycle rider they blew away after spending hours trying to talk out of doing it to himself, etc. etc.(all in last few years)

2) Despite my age (42), professional status and income level, I am extremely wary of any interaction with them. Too many loose cannons in the ranks. Sad commentary on them.

Anyway, all our guys survived and will have their day in court I guess. I would have thought an a** chewing and ticket would have sufficed for almost any vehicular incident, but then I guess those Snake drivers just looked too shady to let go without spending any jail time with the real criminals.

Prashant,

You out did yourself man. The event was awesome. The after the event program you had worked out kinda sucked though....LOL. Without a doubt I wasted 12 hours of my life. It just plain sucked. But I did get to know my new "wives" a better so maybe things were not half bad. The four of us sat in those miserable conditions and just could not help but laugh... then cry... then laugh.

Seriously Prashant.....AWESOME!

It sucked.
We were told, as stated before, that we were being taken in for impeding traffic and upon checking out our insurance cards - they were ALL found to be expired. I believe Dave's by mere days. I believed my new card to be in my briefcase, which of course was not with me. After the grueling 12 hour ordeal, upon getting my property back and checking the contents of my wallet, I find my current insurance card! Not that it mattered now - nor would it have helped then. He was arresting all of us for something. The official charge that we ended up with was failure to maintain financial responsibility - which means no current insurance card. This is easily dismissed in court with proof of current insurance. I wish the memory of our stay could as easily be dismissed. I kissed my pillow when I got home.

Good night

I wonder if Dave got that skid mark off the top of his head?
Dave??

Oh, yeah - If this keeps up, we'll have to add our inmate number along side our VCA number!

Thanks Dave, I hope this "event" after the meeting does not change your mind about attending more of the Houston VCA events. I just spoke with the guys and I think you should all file a formal complant ........the good side is yall know one another a "little" better.

Jason....

You are right they just wanted to be pricks. I hope you have a great vacation in FL. Looking back it is kinda funny although I am friggin glad it's over. Made some friends out of acquaintances and we all survived. As far as the "skid mark" Jason that was about the time I started getting really edgey and thought I was going to have to start kicking some *** . I was about ready to snap. LOL

Have a good trip!

As long as I am in town and not racing I will be there. You do a great job and I hope I can sit in on your Smack talkers lunch this week. What day is it going to be?

Dave,
I have to say one good thing came of all of this. We are all better friends because of it. It would have been a much more difficult time if I would have had to endure it alone. You, Albert and Ali are great guys and made it bearable. Just hope that we can find better ways to bond in the future!
Take care and we'll see everyone when we return from vacation.

I would also like to thank Prashant for another great meeting for the Houston VCA club. As usual, Prashant out did himself again in getting such a huge turnout. As for the excitement on the Beltway, I was there and witnessed it all. One of the guys that was thrown in the slammer was actually driving behind me but I elected to use the EZ tag lane and not the pay line and got away. LUCKY ME... We were actually only going a mild 55mph or so at times and found it sort of strange for them to be stopping vipers for this. I guess they wanted to make an example out of someone.

Prashant,

Hope those $500.00 pants you were wearing survived the kart track today. If not just look in the cushions of your sofa and I am sure you can buy about 6 more pair.

Well I do remember breaking your thumb a while ago while we were on the Karts. If your head is not up your butt, your thumb is and I just hit you at a bad time. Better than a broken neck i guess.

Here is the "Texas Tuna"

DOG BREEDING RULES. if you guys ever loose your job, Dave is always hiring at the Montgomery County Dog Breeding House for Runaways. It looks like a log cabin but its really a huge Dog House, with A/C.
I don’t know about you guys but my back is killing me after those kart racing yesterday. We have to get together again this week for that action.

I have to make my money 1 autopart at a time and your's just seems to grow on trees....Why did **** start calling you his litle Indian Love Slave when we got out of jail? I never heard the end of the story.....

Hey Prashant..... Maybe you and High Dollar Hiedecker and my cell mate Albert can show up tonight at the Go Kart track. Just make sure you don't wear the $1500 wardrobe because I would hate to see that stuff blood stained. Say about 7:30? The Texas Tuna and the Soggy Taco are coming.
