How Can You Tell If Your Wheels Are Chromed Or Polished?

I recently purchased I Forged wheels and they are supposed to be Chrome but the brake dust is sticking to them a lot and I am thinking they might not be chrome and be high polish. Any ideas on how to tell?

that is tough.
I have mine chromed and they just look "darker" than a polished wheel. I clean with glass cleaner.
I think some of the polished wheels use a clear coat to protect them. Would it be possible to feel that clear with a fingernail?

Also polished wheels loose their "pop" after a few months and look hazy.

They shine pretty well but so does the high polish so I do not think the picture will help. Thanks anyway.

Believe it or not I can prob. tell I have a set of each fwiw
There is a difference
take some aluminum polish and rub a small section and see if the finish scratches or turns the rag black chrome will look no diff. after rubbing on it

Okay. I will try for some aluminum polish. Nothing will happen if they are chrome?

correct Chrome will look no diff. if polished (unless they're dirty of course) polished will look scratched or more shiny (depending on the polish you use) I SUGGEST WEENOL BLUE, or BILLET polish O N L Y!!! if they're polished finish due to the extremely soft aluminum construction of these wheels

If you determine they are chrome finished.... Wax the wheels *every time you wax the car* to prevent build up of dust and debris between washing. It really helps tremendously

Chrome is Vary hard! If you can easly scratch the surface it is NOT chrome. Think before you try scratch.
